PROLOGUE

"My grand-pops was a man of respect, had to sweat just to cash checks from sun-rise to set. Every day he'd get challenged, no trades or talents..."

The person near a fire had spoken, looking over to the deer right beside them, who had seemed to be listening in on the story.

"Barely scraped by, he found faith to balance the straight line and pace feeling worn and grey, poor with four seeds one more on the way. It was hard days indeed all work and no play, he made sure things on the surface were okay..."

The person paused for a while, letting the firelight up a bit more before continuing on the story.

"But...something disturbing within his mind was lurking. A slight twilight breeze would ease in through the curtains at night. It's like the sermon of a twisted apparition was urging him to listen to the train in the distance!"

The deer stepped back, a bit spooked by the person's sudden yell, but went back over to re-gain themselves.

"At first it wasn't instant, just once little instance. Sure, it didn't occur, he turned to resist it as if it wasn't much more than just a figment of his imagination but for days it was persistent...And it went..."

The area suddenly changed to the train tracks of a far-off area, but it was still dark. The deer had backed up, but the person forced them closer by a rope around their neck.

A train coming out of what seemed to be nowhere had started going past, and there was someone on the other side...looking like the same person holding the deer's rope...

"Follow me. Follow me. Follow me. Follow me."

The voice got louder...

"Follow me. Follow me.

I have something to show you..."

They were suddenly put back to where they were before, the same fire...Same woods...Same everything. The person went back to talking about their story.

"With time people noticed he was acting berserk, granny got a call saying he was absent from work, and that was a first. She ran to the pastor at church to ask him what was up with this 'Disastrous Curse.' but bad went to worse, he came back three days after, no money in his wallet and his shirt on backward. Stumbling, walked awkward he called out for his daughter, right before he split the last lesson he taught her was this..."

A ghost seemed to appear from the fire, it looked like an older man, who put their hands on the person sitting by the fire. "If you ever have a son let him know that his granddad loves him but by the time that he's grown, be sure this seed is sown down deep into his dome, don't ever walk to the train tracks alone..."

The person got up, picking up some equipment, and dragged the deer along, singing under a wolf skull mask.

"Sitting on the tracks waiting for the night train, looking down the road ain't never gonna go back, listen for the whistle through the wind and raindrop..."

"Who's gonna ride The Devil's Train tonight?"
