It was 3 in the morning and Klaus -or in this disguise, Philip Davidson- was trying to sleep, but there was so much commotion on the street below that it disturbed him even on the 4th floor. He groaned and pulled himself out of bed to see what all this fuss was about, he was still in his pajamas as he descended in the elevator. He was certain it would just be some trivial human matter as he opened the door to head outside.
There was a lot of talking and he saw everyone trying to get a good look at something in the middle of the crowd. Against his better judgement he too wanted to know what it was as he heard them say things like "Is it really him?" then "I only see one of him." which led him to believe it might be Teleport Man, but what was causing all of this.
"Do you know what's wrong here?" He asked a woman nearby, she had short dark hair and rectangular glasses, he didn’t pay her much attention at the time. He always said he'd stay out of human matters but he never did.
She looked up at him "From what I understand, Teleport Man is unconscious and tied up, there's some sort of a sign on him too." She explained before going back to trying to get into the swarm. The fact that it was Teleport Man gave him the perfect excuse to get involved, and so he went into a dark alley, everyone was too distracted to notice him change into the disguise of a policeman.
He walked up to the scene, the crowd parted for him and he finally saw it, Teleport Man was laying on the ground, chained to a signpost. Above him was a sign that was printed in dark red ink, it said
"I have the other one
this city will soon be mine"
Klaus had to stop from rolling his eyes, was this an actual classic supervillain, this would be fun, as long as Teleport Man didn't get hurt of course. He realized that a good bunch of the crowd was looking at him now "Oh, I am uh, here to take Teleport Man away, police business, go on with your days." He waved his hand as if shooing them away, but no one actually left. He was unsure how to break the chains with everyone watching so he made a big show of trying to remove Teleport Man's helmet, which they all knew couldn't be removed anyways. But while everyone was watching that he shot the chains with a quick blast from his wrist gun. Then he picked him up and carried him away saying more nonsense about police matters while hurrying away before the actual police arrived.
His original plan was just to take him back to his apartment, then he realized that would be foolish since his human identity was supposed to stay a secret, so off to the spaceship it was.

The woman from before watched them leave, she tried to follow them but when she turned a corner they were long gone.

Matthew Woods, more famously known as Teleport Man woke up laying in a cold metal bed, he had a vague memory of fighting something, then he must have gotten knocked out or something because he didn't remember anything after that. He didn't recognize his surroundings at all, and he was still wearing his helmet so whoever kidnapped him hadn't been able to take it off so there must be another one of him out there somewhere.
"You're awake!" A voice spoke and he thought he recognized it but spun around to check anyways, yes it was Klaus. He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by his captor "I could have injected you with something to wake you up faster but I didn't want to alarm you so I decided to wait until you woke up. I'm sorry if you would have preferred I woke you up sooner." He said quickly.
Matthew just stared at him "What? What's happening." Was all he could say. He had no idea what was happening. He supposed Klaus must have gotten tired of waiting and kidnapped him off schedule, they must be light years away from earth by now. But what did he care about how he wanted to be woken up? It was all very confusing.
To his surprise he looked upset by this answer, although it was hard to read his emotions due to his very non-human face. "I was hoping you could tell me that. Can you remember anything about who knocked you out?" He asked, sitting down next to him.
"Can I what?" If he wasn't the one who knocked him out then he understood even less of what was going on than he had thought originally. He did notice that he wasn't tied to anything but there were some chains laying on the floor. "Are we in outer space?" Even in all of this mess he still had always wanted to go into space, it'd be really cool if he was right now.
But Klaus shook his head "No we're still in Minnesota." He replied. Which was a relief he supposed, but still it would have been neat.
"Well... can you fill me in? You brought me here." He was still looking around, the room was very odd, even in all of it's alien-ness it looked more like a bedroom than a prison.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out... a smartphone? He hadn't expected him to own something like that. "Yes of course." He said while pulling something up on YouTube "This is where I found you." He showed a video of the scene from before. So, some strange villain had his duplicate, he didn't know what would happen if one of them died, and he certainly didn't want to find out.
Matthew noticed in the video a stranger carried him away "Who's that?" He asked, because a moment later the police had come and said that he wasn't with them.
He pulled his arm closer to his body as he responded "Just... someone I know..." He said unconvincingly. "So are you sure you don't know anything that can help us find this new villain?"
Us? "Why are you helping me?"
Klaus smiled, well it looked like he did at least "Well I can't be your nemesis if there's someone else off kidnapping you." He said with a chuckle. Which made sense... in some sort of a way.
"Alright." He didn't see any reason not to believe him. If he had both of him then he wouldn't be here on earth. He was trying to think of what had happened last night, he had gotten a phone call? "Oh!" He exclaimed. "Someone called me, I don't know how they got my number... They said that there was a robbery... and I went to go stop it, but they were waiting for me." He explained
"hmm, I see." Klaus thought for a moment before standing up. "That is good." He said, helping him up. He could tell he had some sort of a plan and was waiting for an explanation which came quickly. "If you teleport home and go get your phone I can trace who called you." He said
It seemed like a solid plan but he had just one concern. "How do I know you won't look and find out my secret identity." Every superhero was supposed to keep their real name hidden from the villain, everyone knew that.
"You'll just have to trust me." He shrugged "You can watch me do it too." he added when he saw Matthew tense up. He didn't really trust him but so far he seemed to be helping.
"Do I have a choice?" He asked begrudgingly.
Klaus nodded "You can't teleport out of here. But to get your phone I'd have to let you out and you could easily find someone else to trace the call." Matthew stared at him, why would he tell him this, nothing made any sense.
"I- what. If I say I'll do that will you still let me out?"
"Yes"
What motives could he possibly have for doing this. Surely he'd want to keep a close eye on him so he'd remain kidnapped after all of this was over, right. "Well... I'll just be on my way then." He stood up too. His small headache grew far worse as he did this and he keeled over, kneeling on the ground.
Klaus bent over him "Do you need some water? Food?" he asked, helping him up. It was such a strange feeling being helped by the person he fought so often.
"No. Well yes but I can't take this helmet off if there's another me out there." He didn't like to tell the villain about his weaknesses but he felt like he could trust him, he already knew more about him than most people so what was one more thing.
He helped him sit down on the bed again. "Oh man, that sucks." He left and returned with a small syringe filled with a clear liquid.
"What's that." He slid away as Klaus got closer to him. He wasn't even sure he wanted to know, or if he could stop him from injecting him with it.
"It'll give you your strength back, it's not a substitute for food and water but it'll do." He held a hand out for Matthew's arm.
He didn't hold it out "Why should I trust you and your alien goo."
He sighed "If I was going to kill you I would have done it already." He sat down on the bed too, still holding his hand out.
It was a good point "Ugh, fine. I don't like needles so make it quick." He made the impression of looking towards him as he held his arm out, but under the helmet his eyes were shut very tight.
"It's done."
He hadn't felt the needle at all but he suddenly felt very sick, like he might throw up "You did poison me!" He said, alarmed as he tried to stay sitting up straight.
"No, it just takes a minute, here I'll help you outside." He helped Matthew stand up, who really didn't have a choice, he just sort of flopped over as he was mostly carried through the halls. He wondered how such a large ship was hidden as it felt like there were a lot of halls and turns, like a maze. He also noticed that Klaus was stronger than he had realized, seemingly effortlessly carrying him.
When he was set down on solid rock he was beginning to feel better, he was in a cave or somewhere else very dark and filled with moist rocks and the dripping of water.
"If you're so strong, how do I ever beat you in fights?" He blurted out, he wasn't even tired. No human could be that strong but of course, he wasn't human.
He looked surprised that he had noticed. "oh, I can adjust the gravity on my ship." He said smoothly, but he was sure he'd have felt it if that happened. Maybe it was the shot, he didn't want to put too much effort into thinking about it, there was more at stake here.
He was feeling a lot better now, his headache completely gone, he stood up. Klaus moved to catch him if he stumbled but he was steady. After a moment he teleported to his front door, upon realizing he didn't have his keys he just had to hope Philip wasn't awake yet, the sun was hardly risen so he'd probably still be asleep, he didn't hear anyone moving around so he teleported inside, saw no one, grabbed his phone and then paused.
He liked the idea of going off to find someone, but he already knew Klaus, which if anything should be a reason not to trust him, well he had to make a decision soon, he didn't know what this new villain would do to the other him.

Klaus was waiting in his room, laying on his bed scrolling on his phone reading the news to see if there was anything about the mysterious kidnapper. But there was nothing useful. He didn't have to wait very long before Teleport Man reappeared, showing up on camera outside of the ship. He honestly hadn't been sure he'd come back, this was good. "You came back." He stated as he let him in.
"Yes."
"Can I see your phone?"
"Oh... Yes, but there's a problem. I can't unlock it." He held it up but he was still wearing his metal gauntlets.
"Can't you take those off either?" He asked but the response was a shake of the head "Well that's alright, I should be able to hack it super easily." He said taking the phone and plugging it into the wall.
He heard Teleport Man mutter something along the lines of "I can't believe I'm working with the villain." and then "woahh" As a large screen descended from the ceiling.
As he held the phone in his hands he noticed a large crack on the screen, it looked an awful lot like the one on Mattie's phone. Then when it turned on he instantly recognized the screensaver. This was his roommate Matthew Wood's phone. They'd drawn this screensaver together. He almost dropped the phone in surprise.
"Is something wrong?" He leaned over to look at the phone.
Yes, something was wrong, his best friend was his worst enemy/other best friend "No, no, nothing's wrong." He said, trying to keep a straight face. Was it possible? There was no reason that Mattie couldn't be Teleport Man... but he wasn't was he? He kept looking over at him, he felt like he didn't know him at all anymore, either one of them. Even though this meant he knew him more than ever before he supposed.
As he typed on his alien keyboard, he couldn't help but wonder, did Mattie know that he was Philip? Surely he didn't, right? Then again he was clearly adept at lying, but he realized that he would have known he'd recognize the phone. So then... if Mattie didn't know, should he tell him?
He was distracted by a gentle chime, the computer had found the caller. Someone named Robin Raines. He was no longer thinking about Teleport Man's secret identity as he typed. It turned out that she had called from the place he'd said he’d been knocked out.
"You can teleport more than one person right?"
"Yeah."
Seconds after exiting the ship they stood in complete darkness, Klaus pressed something on his arm keypad and a light shone from his wrist, as he looked around he saw nothing, it was like they were in a completely empty box with no windows. "Go back to the ship, you don't want to be seen with me." He whispered, opening the ship's doors remotely and as soon as he had teleported away, he blasted one of the walls down, the sun was fairly risen by now and light flooded in, it was a street. He stepped out onto it, ignoring the fact that everyone was staring at him.
Everything looked normal, except of course for the fact that there was a giant hole blasted in the wall. But the wall itself didn't look out of place, like it had been there for years. But Teleport Man had gone there just yesterday so there mustn't have been a wall then.
Well that was a dead end, literally.

He flew back to the ship, he found Teleport Man waiting in the bedroom, trying to remove his gloves to no avail. Klaus cleared his throat and he looked up "Everything is gone." He said, and even though his face was hidden he could tell that he was disappointed by this news.
"I'd look the name up but-" He held up his metal covered hands helplessly.
He walked over to the screen and began typing "No, it's not a problem." He said. Pulling up photos of Robin, sure there were multiple Robin Raines's but only one was connected to that phone number. She was an 18 year old girl with long brown and blonde ombre hair and green eyes, she had a pale freckled face with soft features. But what stood out the most was her father's name, Christopher Raines.
"Woahh, is that who I think it is?" He asked as Klaus pulled up the name, "It is." He gasped when a picture showed up, it was a thin man with black hair and a long curling mustache, he had the same green eyes as his daughter, in this photo he was wearing a tall hat.
"You know this man?"
"Yeah! He's famous where my grandparents used to live, I used to hear stories about him all the time growing up! I didn't know he had a daughter." He seemed excited to finally know something that Klaus didn't.
He was no longer looking at the screen as he spoke "Well what do you know about him?"
"He's like a crazy scientist guy who lives all by himself in a tower and never comes outside!"
He nodded and turned back to the screen reading it, what he said seemed about right although Wikipedia described him as an "eccentric engineer" instead of crazy scientist guy, apparently his wife died in an explosion but the police couldn't trace it back to any of his inventions. He still lived in the tower but his daughter lived in apartment 1A on 3271 Ironwood Avenue.
"Let's go find her and ask about her dad!" Teleport Man said reaching for his hand and stepping towards the door.
He narrowed his eyes "We only know she's involved in this, her father might have nothing to do with it." He pointed out.
He shrugged "Mad scientist Vs-" he looked at the screen "Waitress... hm I wonder." Even without seeing his face it was obvious he was rolling his eyes. He couldn't help but think that Mattie was nicer than this, maybe it wasn't him. But in the back of his mind he knew they were the same, but he didn't think this was a good time to worry about all that. He'd deal with it after this was all over.
"I'll go talk to her, why don't you stay here."
"What!?" He got up outraged. "Why?"
"She's kidnapped the other you, I don't think you walking right into her house is a good idea."
He looked like he was going to say something but couldn't think of a good argument "Well she'll recognize you too, you don't exactly blend in." He pointed out.
"I'll be fine, just sit down." He steered him over to a chair and sat him down on it. A groan of annoyance was the only response.

He was disguised with the same face he'd used as a policeman earlier since he wasn’t sure if he had time to make a new one. It was already reaching midday, Klaus entered the building, room 1A was right by the door and he knocked, a woman answered. She was the same one from the pictures but she looked different, with shadows under her eyes and her hair tied up in a messy bun. "I'm not interested in buying anything." She snapped looking him up and down.
She was about to slam the door but he spoke just in time "Are you Robin Raines?" He asked.
Her lip curled up "Who's asking."
He smiled a large glittering smile "I'm Anthony Tucker but you can call me Tony, I'm here for Whisper City canoeing. And you've won a free canoe rental!" He tried to stride into the room but she put her arm out in front of him.
Her face was very scrunched up. "What the hell are you talking about, get out of here you creep." She tried to shove him away but he didn't move.
"I know you were there when Teleport Man was kidnapped." He hissed in her ear before backing away.
Her pale face became even paler as she looked at him "I don't know what you're talking about." her eye was twitching now.
"Just let me in Robin." He said and she didn’t slam the door so he pushed her aside and entered. She looked very apprehensive.
"There's nothing here, I'm just a waitress."
He looked around, she hadn't lied, there was nothing of note. Certainly not any kidnapped teleport men. "Did Christopher put you up to this?" He asked, Teleport Man had seemed convinced he'd got something to do with this.
She scoffed, she was following him as he walked around the apartment "That old fool? He can't even form a proper sentence” She sounded more annoyed than upset by this fact. “not since… ugh why am I humoring you, I didn’t do anything." She finished.
They were in the kitchen now and he was about to ask another question when something happened, she became very still. He looked around and realized she had tried to stab him with a knife but it just bent when it came in contact with him. She dropped it, staring at him with an open mouth.
"Do you still deny kidnapping Teleport Man." He asked as her confidence had dropped greatly.
"W-what are you?"
"Unimportant, where are you keeping him." He advanced on her and she stumbled backwards.
She didn't speak until she was backed into a corner "I lied, my father did make me do this. I don't know where he's keeping him." She gulped, she was breathing fast but it seemed forced like she wasn’t really that scared, he didn’t believe her at all. "But I do know Teleport Man's secret identity!"
"I already know it's Mattie. Do you know anything else?" For a second he wondered what he would have said if he hadn’t just found out. He’d never particularly wanted to know, but that was irrelevant now. He of course wasn't actually going to hurt her, but he was a supervillain so he thought it'd be fine to leave that bit out.
She nodded "Yes! My father keeps a spare key inside of the stone owl on the left of his door!" She said breathlessly and with that very helpful information he decided it was time to let her go. But at the same time he had a feeling he’d given her just as much information as he’d gotten.
He left the building and a moment later she ran after him but by the time she made it outside she couldn't see him anywhere. Someone was watching, someone had seen him fly away, it was the woman with the rectangular glasses from the scene this morning.

Teleport Man hummed, as he waited for Klaus to come back, teleporting was a lot faster than flying he supposed. He was sealed in the room and couldn't teleport out. He tapped his foot impatiently, he was glad he didn't wear a full suit of armor, because even what he had on was awful. He'd never worn it this long before and he knew he'd certainly be sore for a while, it wasn’t the least bit light. His hair was very sweaty and sticking to his head in a very itchy way. Also he was getting hungry again too- he decided that if he lived through this he'd make it so that his visor could raise in an emergency like this.
He sat up straight as he heard the door opening, Klaus entered "She said that her father did it, come on." He indicated for him to get up.
And he did, standing cautiously "Won't that be walking right into a trap?" He had expected he wouldn't be allowed to leave until this was all over.
"Most certainly, now do you want to stay here or do you want to help?"
It was hardly even a question at all, of course he wanted to go with and rescue... himself. He nodded and followed him out of the spaceship.
It wasn't long until they were transported into daylight, once their eyes had adjusted he saw that they were standing in front of a very odd building. The houses nearby looked old, with ivy growing up their sides, unlike most of the city, with it's shiny skyscrapers and the like. But the one in front of them, could it even be called a house? Was very tall, and very crooked. It looked like a single wrong breeze would send it toppling, everything was obscured by ivy, except a few broken windows here and there. The only reason that the door stood out was the fact that there was a large clock placed haphazardly on top of the ivy above it. And on the sides were two large stone owls.
"It hasn't changed a bit." He whispered, it looked exactly as it did in his memories of coming here as a kid. He hadn't seen it since his grandparents moved, over a decade ago. But he couldn't spot a single difference.
To his surprise Klaus strode up to the door and shoved the left owl statue off of it's pedestal, and it shattered as it hit the ground, it had looked far sturdier than that, he wondered if it was even stone. Inside the pile of rubble was a key which klaus picked up.
"What if someone heard that?" He whispered walking up to him. He was beginning to feel a little nervous, coming right up to it. He was entering the territory of someone who had kidnapped him and had a plan to take over a whole city. And the only person on his side was a supervillain.
"They already know we're here." Was the reply, not whispering at all as he pointed at the other owl, it took him a minute to notice anything off about it. Did it hide a key too? Then upon closer inspection he realized that the eye was watching him, it was not stone at all but a miniscule camera. He scowled and punched it as hard as he could, it did not shatter like the other one but it was certainly enough to break the camera, and possibly his fingers. Not that it mattered, there would probably be more as soon as they entered.

While he was beating up a fake owl Klaus had unlocked the door, together they stepped inside. He was amazed, there were brilliant inventions all along the walls and strewn across the floor. Sharp objects were sticking out everywhere, he couldn't imagine growing up in a place like this, poor Robin. While he was gawking at the sight, it appeared as though Klaus was looking for something specific.
"What-" He began but he was shushed and pulled into a dark corner where no cameras would see them.
"We need to be careful, there's cameras and mics everywhere." Klaus whispered in his ear, barely audible and he nodded. He made straight for the stairs as soon as he spotted them but was quickly pulled back. "What part of the word trap, do you not understand?" He snapped, then threw something small, some sort of cog right where Mattie had been about to step and even just that light weight sent the floor swinging out into darkness.
Then contrary to the caution that Mattie was now feeling he said "Raines is waiting for us, we'd better hurry." which in his opinion was the opposite of what they should be doing.
Mattie just stared as he stepped over the chasam now in the floor, then spoke quickly as he followed "So if he wants us to go up these stairs, then why are we doing it?" he asked, but got no reply. "Typical, you aliens have no logic whatsoever" he muttered trying to step exactly where Klaus was putting his feet. But he was a lot clumsier than the cat-like movements from the man before him. He stumbled, time seemed to slow down as he heard a *click* then a loud, long hissing sound, which was quickly drowned out by the beating of his heart which seemed to fill his whole body.
It was clunky and loud, not like in the movies. But all the same the ceiling was descending upon them, spikes emerging from it. It wasn't smooth and even, it dropped down, then paused with a hiss then dropped another level, which made it all the more intense, because at any moment it might start falling and nothing at all would catch it. He couldn't think, he couldn't breathe.
He thought he saw the flames on Klaus's boots glow as he jetted to the safety of the stairwell, but it was all a blur, he couldn't focus enough to really see anything at all.
Through the panic it sounded like a voice, maybe, he wasn't sure... no those were definitely words. But what did it mean, he was about to die, who was talking to him. "Mattie! Why aren't you teleporting!!?" is what it sounded like, but what did that mean. Then some small part of his brain understood one word, teleport. He could do that, and so he did, in an instant he was standing right next to Klaus, right before the spikes hit the ground with a final crash.
After the panic subsided he realized what had happened "What did you just call me?" It had sounded like... Mattie. But no one knew that he was Matthew, just like how know one knew that Matthew was teleport man, not even his parents. And to add on to that, only his friends called him by the nickname. Maybe he had just been imagining things.
"I didn't call you anything? I was just trying to get your attention. Are you alright?" Klaus put a hand on his shoulder but he recoiled.
"Yes, sorry." Sure Klaus was evil but he wouldn't lie to him, would he? It was all hard to hear over the pounding of his ears so he was convinced... but for a second there he'd been sure that's what he'd heard. "Lead the way." He said looking up the dark mildewy staircase, it was dark and it spiraled so he couldn't see what awaited them at the top.
He nodded and started going up, he seemed to know what steps to avoid, a thought crossed the back of his mind. What if Klaus was working with these new villains, or what if they weren't even a part of this and it was all him, Mattie hadn’t gone with him to see Robin. Was she even real? He couldn't trust him, why had he trusted him at all. He was his enemy, a stranger from outer space. But why would he go through all this work if he had the both of them kidnapped, maybe this was all some sick game, some sort of alien comedy. He could just teleport away, far away and hope that if the other him died he'd be alright. But he'd starve to death if he couldn't get the helmet off. An evil chuckle distracted him from his thoughts, he accepted that Klaus was his ally, he didn't have a choice in that matter.

They both stood at the top of the stairs and were face to face with the mustached man, Christopher Raines, he looked even more... hollow than in the photos. His eyes, even as bright green as they were, seemed void of life. His mouth didn't seem to move and the laughing seemed to echo throughout the room. In fact he didn't appear as if he was moving at all, he was as lifeless as if he were a statue. He squinted, no, the man was breathing. But his eyes were unfocused and he wasn't looking at anything.
In a sudden thunderclap of noise, blue light and smoke poured out of a room just to the side. Mattie blinked, the smoke didn't actually penetrate the helmet but it was still enough to surprise him. Christopher was now laying in a crumpled heap against the wall like he'd been thrown aside. Blood dripped out of his mouth but his eyes seemed to get a little clearer as he fell into a panic "Run!" He shouted, his voice was dry and scratchy like sandpaper. He grabbed onto Klaus's leg and looked right into his eyes "Run! Get out of here she's-" He voice was ragged and breathy, but he was interrupted by a swift kick to the chest.
But who'd kicked him, there was still a fair bit of smoke but he saw a woman's boot, it was black and shiny, with heels. He supposed it couldn't be a true comic book if a female didn't have ankle breaking high heels. The smoke was fading and he realized that it was Robin, but she didn't look anything like the photos. Her eyes were very dark, only lit by a small cruel flame. She had dark eyeshadow and lipstick too, which in contrast made her skin look paper white.  "Took you long enough." Was all she said.
Klaus and Teleport Man both stood in battle ready positions, eyeing each other. She had some sort of a weapon, it looked vaguely like a gun but it had a lot of dials and gears, it looked like something from a cosplay but it was smoking and emitted the same blue light, so it clearly worked, just look at her father.
"You've done all of this?" Mattie asked, he'd been so convinced it was her father after all he heard about him growing up. But he was just a shriveled excuse for a man, lying unconscious, if not dead, on the floor. Klaus jabbed him in the arm "whaaat?"
"Of course it's her, she's planned this all. Our every move." He was twitching nervously, his fingers hovering just above the keypad on his arm.
She smiled stepping closer, her shoes clicking on the hardwood floor "That is correct Klaus, or would you rather I call you Tony from whisper city canoeing." She was right up in Klaus's face, and Mattie was extremely confused. What was she talking about, maybe she was just crazy. Well, she was trying to take over the city and possibly just killed her father so it wouldn't be too far of a stretch he supposed.
She was looking at him now and he wanted to just teleport away, but he thought that his other half was probably here and he'd made it this far, he couldn't give up now. "Why are you doing this?" He asked, maybe she'd give a long monologue and while she was busy telling him her plan he could rescue the other him and escape. That's what was supposed to happen when he fought supervillains, that's what always happened with Klaus. But all of this felt a whole lot more intense than usual.
"I could tell you, but it's so fun seeing the city's hero, completely helpless." She chuckled, her expression was cold and cruel. "If you beg, maybe I'll tell you something." She was now casually pointing her gun at him.
He was startled "You want me to beg?" He didn't feel very much like doing that.
"Yes, get down on your knees and grovel." With a swift kick she'd wiped his legs out from under him and he was kneeling on the floor trying to catch his breath. Klaus made a move towards him but she flicked a switch and her gun started whirring, so he remained where he was.
"Please ma'am, what does your gun do?" He looked at the ground and didn't make any motions to get up.
He couldn't see her face but he could feel her smiling "Ah, now that's more like it. It was made by my father, pretty genius actually, shame what happened to him." She didn't sound like she actually thought it was a shame at all "It sends out wavelengths that shut down parts of your brain or something, I don’t understand it really but she sure is beautiful." Had she just called the weapon a she?
Mattie gulped, that sounded very terrifying. He didn't think that should be in the hands of someone like her. He didn't know anything about how it worked or even what that meant exactly, but it seemed reasonable enough that she thought she could take over the city with it. He just hoped she hadn't done anything too permanent to the other him. But everything has a weakness, he'd just have to figure out how to defeat it like every other comic book superhero always had to.
"And why are you doing this?" He asked again "Please grace me with your supreme knowledge" He hoped he wasn't laying it on too thick but she had asked him to beg after all.
"I think it's your turn to answer a question."
He looked up at her in surprise "Alright."
"You came here to find your other half, yes?" She asked, she was stroking the gun. He nodded, not wanting to speak. "Well then, be my guest." She reached an arm down to help him stand, but he didn't take it, just scowling at her, not that she could see his face anyways. She shrugged and stepped aside, indicating towards one of the three doors. The one she had come out of.
He glared at it suspiciously. Sure he could easily teleport right in, but what if that's what she wanted. He looked at Klaus who shrugged slightly but the gun was pointed at him and he didn't want to move too much or say anything at all.
"It's not a trap."
He of course didn't trust her, but he couldn't just kneel there forever. He stood up and took wary steps towards the door, he pushed it lightly and it swung open. He was quickly overwhelmed as he saw many bright screens along one wall showing live feed from around the building and parts of the city, half of the room had a glass roof. He was very nervous but so far nothing had happened to him, maybe it really wasn’t a trap. He felt like at any moment she'd push him in and he'd fall right into something he couldn't teleport out of. She didn't though, he examined the room more and saw a shape in one corner. He focused on it and realized that it was him, well the other him. Tied to a chair, his head was hanging but he didn't look dead. But he was only tied with rope, why hadn't he teleported away?
All caution thrown aside it was all the restraint he had to run to him and not teleport, although maybe it would have been safer the other way around, nonetheless it worked out fine. The other one looked up in alarm as he heard the footsteps running towards him. "Come on, let's merge and get out of here." He didn't even bother whispering since he was sure she could hear him no matter how loud he was. But to his surprise he shook his head. "What, why not?"
He stared right into his mask, it mirrored his own but it was clean and shiny, he could see his own reflection, his armor was dirty and bent in various places. "She-" The other him coughed a bit, he hadn't had any alien shots to sustain his hunger and thirst. Sure he wasn't feeling great but he imagined that the other one felt a whole lot worse. "She did something to me, I can't teleport." He managed to choke out.
"So?"
"So what if we merge, what if neither of us could teleport." He said annoyed that it wasn’t obvious.
He started trying to clumsily untie the ropes but it was hard with the metal gauntlets and possibly broken fingers. "Well have you learned anything useful?" He asked, quickly growing frustrated.
"She had a gun, she typed something into it and that's what took my powers." Ah, so she had to type in it, and it could take away powers, he was learning.
Suddenly something flew past him and sliced through the ropes, both of him looked up, Klaus was standing there.
"Look out!" He was tackled to the ground by the newly untied Teleport Man.
He pushed him off "No no it's alright, he's helping me rescue you." He informed himself. But before he could argue, Robin had entered the room, the gun still aimed towards them, they shrank against the wall.
There was a loud chime from downstairs and a *blip* noise from the computer and they all turned to look at, all except kidnapped Mattie who was urging him to teleport them away. Someone had rung the doorbell. He'd never seen her before but it was the woman from early this morning, and again at Robin’s apartment, the one that had rectangular glasses.

Klaus watched as she gave them a quick glance before locking them in after she exited the room to go deal with it.
"C'mon let's go." Mattie 2 - that was what he was calling the one he didn't just have on his ship - was shaking the arm of the other one. For once he could tell them apart seeing as Mattie 1 had been laying in the street for who knows how long before he found him, and had been trying to rip the armor off all day.
He tried to speak but was interrupted by Mattie 1 "No! we're heroes, we need to stop the villain, it's our job!"
"Teleport us away and we'll deal with her once I have my powers back." He insisted. "Leave him behind-" He was indicating Klaus who was still trying to get their attention.
"AHEM" he cleared his throat very loudly "I scanned her weapon." He held up the screen for them to see but before he could say anything else he was interrupted.
It was #2 "Don't trust him, let's go." He was now yanking on his arm, clearly very desperate to get out of the room he had been trapped in for so long.
"No!" He snapped, removing himself from his grip "I'm sorry he hasn't had any food or water since yesterday, don't mind him." He said apologetically to Klaus, as if the other one was a child who couldn't speak for himself. He didn't care about all that, he just wanted to share what he'd found out.
"It's fine. But listen, the gun has a weakness. If it hits you again, whatever effect it has on you goes away- replaced by the new one." He said finally.
He was nodding while the still shiny one sulked trying to find a way out "Alright, well what sort of stuff does it do?" He looked slightly embarrassed that he didn't fully understand it.
"It sends out a wave that blocks a small bit of your brain so that you can't do a certain thing. It can affect your actions, your memory, your powers. It could also be used to shut your brain down entirely, killing you instantly." He explained, casting a quick glance down at his screen, a small timer said 10 minutes and it was counting down.
"I see." He muttered beginning to pace.
There was loud crash and they both looked over at #2 who had fallen trying to climb a shelf, on the screens you could see the two women downstairs look up in surprise, the unknown one started trying to push past Robin. Teleport Man wasn't getting up and they rushed over to him, he wasn't dead but he also wasn't moving.
"Are you alright?" Klaus knelt next to him helping him up.
He groaned, pulling away from him "No, nothing matters, it's hopeless." He said after a bit. He was reminded of why he made sure Mattie never forgot to eat, he always got like this when he was hungry.
He decided that the best bet was to defeat Robin as fast as possible and put everything back to normal. Then he could finally let himself be upset that his best friend was secretly Teleport man. He looked at the timer again, 7 minutes. He was tired of this and blasted the door down, he saw the door across from him swing shut with Robin's heels clacking on the other side, he didn't see the stranger anywhere. She hadn't locked the door and he followed her up a staircase, all the way onto the roof.
The sun was setting and it would have been a beautiful sight if not for the whole thing going on right now. She was sitting near the edge, her legs tucked up underneath her "Welcome."
What an odd thing to say, was this her final attempt to defeat him, because there was nowhere left for her to run, he could simply push her off the building, she wouldn't survive a fall like that. "Give me the weapon." She had it resting in her lap. The seconds were going by so fast, it said four minutes left. Now that he was up here he could be visibly concerned, he hadn't wanted to worry the Teleport Mans but she’d shot him before he'd come in the room. He could no longer turn his life support on, and earth was fine as long as he had the proper technology, but without it...
She could see him panicking "All in good time Klaus. You're a villain, join me and we can rule this world." She showed him the screen on her gun it said *Cannot betray Robin Raines* "I'll only shoot you if you say I can. But you're running out of time." She was smiling, it would be a pretty smile if not for the fact that she was trying to take over the city, or as she just said- the whole word.
"No! I'd rather die." He spat, which might end up being his only choice.
"When I was a little girl, everyone always assumed I was like my father. Judging me before they even-"
He actually laughed "Please, was join me and we can rule the world not enough? Now your tragic backstory? What is this, a comic book? That never works, now give me the gun!" He reached towards her but she leapt away, she was standing dangerously, any wrong movements and she'd be a pancake.
He aimed his own wrist gun at her but she smiled typing something new into it. She let him read it *Forget that Teleport Man is Matthew Woods.* were the words showing on it. "You choose." were the last words she said before in a split second there was a bang and she was gone in the smoke. She'd shot it at Mattie through the glass roof, and dropped the gun off the side of the building.
It wasn't a choice at all, the flames on his jet boots lit up as he rocketed towards his friend. It was all over in an instant, the timer hit 0, he landed on top of Teleport Man and the beam hit him directly in the back of the head.

He had a headache like his whole experience of the day had just been rewritten, but that made no sense. He knew what he'd done today, he'd helped Teleport Man rescue himself from the evil Robin Raines. These worries faded instantly from his mind as soon as he opened his eyes.
He must have gone unconscious for a bit because Teleport Man 1 was standing over him "Oh thank goodness you're alive!" He exclaimed when he saw his eyes open. "You don't breathe, so I thought maybe she did that thing you said... with the killing." He trailed off.
Klaus was trying to make sense of his surroundings, he felt a bit disoriented "I do breathe." was all he could think to say.
"Oh." He helped him into a sitting position, at least he finally seemed to accept they were working together now, although it wouldn't be for much longer "Well what happened up there? What did you save me from?" He asked eagerly, even 2 seemed interested, although he tried to look casual.
"Robin asked me to join her, but I said no... Then she shot you and I took the hit." He explained, they were looking at him clearly wanting to know what it was set to do, he was trying to think but he was distracted by someone walking up the stairs, it was as if his brain didn't want him to remember. "I think she made me forget something."
Before anyone could say anything else the stranger from the camera entered the hole that used to be a door. She was holding the weapon, it was bent as if it'd just been dropped off of a tower, which it had. "Can I see that?" 1 didn't wait for an answer as he teleported over to her and took it. The look of disappointment showed that whatever it had said was now gone. "You didn't see what this gun made Klaus forget did you?"
He could see her taking in the chaotic scene before her, he could tell her brain was working overtime trying to think of what to say "Uh no. " She swallowed nervously as they were all staring at her now "The screen's busted." her tone was nonchalant but her eyes were flicking across the room and he had the strong feeling she was lying but he hadn't got a clue what it could possibly be, maybe she had good reason for not telling him. Well he was a famous supervillain, she probably didn't trust him with whatever it was.
"Can I see that?" Klaus asked, pointing to the broken weapon.
But before he could grab it 2 spoke "What why?" He clearly didn't like the idea of giving the evil weapon to the remaining villain.
"So I can fix it."
"No! Why would we let you do that!" He ran over to make sure 1 didn't give it to him.
Klaus sighed "If I can't fix it you'll never be able to teleport again." He explained, 2 muttered something that he couldn't hear and he was handed the gun. It was very advanced for something on earth but that wasn't saying much, it only took him a moment to find the schematics for something similar and although he couldn't easily build something like that on his own, he quickly figured out what bit needed to be welded together and he plugged it into his working screen and it was ready to go. "What's a memory you'd both like to forget? Something small like a bad taste."
They spoke at the same time "Fish juice."
He was going to ask but decided against it. He typed the words in and blasted it at Teleport Man 2, the gun then promptly snapped in half from the effort, he'd make sure to properly dispose of that later. He did a test teleport then quickly merged with the other one. Now the only Teleport Man in the room he didn't even flinch at getting the memories of two entirely different days shoved in his head all he said was "Boy now i'm twice as hungry." Before vanishing, leaving Klaus all alone in the room. All alone?
The stranger was gone, he hadn't even caught her name, why had she been there, who was she? That was something to figure out another day, once he'd gotten some sleep. He stepped over the broken glass all over the floor and removed a disk from the computer,  the video feed from the cameras.
