It was one of the more blessed quieter nights; the birds had long since fallen to slumber, the nearby residents of Tailfeather tucked into their cabins. This was his home- the Dravanian Forelands, in all of its glory. And for the first time, he was able to share it with those he found closer than most- his adoptive parents Janremi and Y’dyalani.
How they had come to meet each other is another story all of its own, and one for another day; but it just so happened, on this particular one, he found himself up in the later hours of the evening, watching over them both. After all, Erethys knew this land better than they, and all of the splendors- as well as horrors- that it held for those both native and not.
Even so, he could not help but feel a pride welling in his chest. He tucked close to Y’dyalani, brushing his fingertips against her cheek in the lightest of touches- careful not to wake her.
“Wherever you go, whatever you do
You know I’ll follow you down
Wherever you go, if ever you lose your ground
I’ll follow you down
I’ll follow you…”
Though he had not been one to sing (at least not aloud), the words came naturally. Seeing that she did not immediately stir from the softly sung words, he continued.
“Don’t know where you’re headed to
Right here, right now, somehow I
I’ll light the way up for you.”
