The Gods, honor, and loyalty. These were the three rules Salcarus lived by. He lived a simple childhood for a boy in Divinus. School, Church, and fun. Divinus was extremely close to the Gods, in fact the city was built by the Gods for people to honor them. This is where Salcarus' extremely religious lifestyle comes from.  When Salcarus was a young adult he joined the military. Being just a simple knight among the ranks. Though he showed prowess, courage, and skill on the battlefield. The King noticed this, and it eventually brought Salcarus to become the King's hand after the previous one's death. Every time there is a new Hand selected, a ceremony is held. During this ceremony, the selected knight turns in his armor and weapons in exchange for armor and equipment, one of these items is crafted by the Gods. Due to Salcarus' defensive fighting style, he was granted a shield made by the Gods. This was no normal shield. The base of it was a greatshield, a shield as big as a person. Which felt very light to him, but very heavy to others. It could open up a portal to the heavens, that only he and only a few could enter. If anyone not granted the ability to enter tries, they will be seared to ash.It also had the ability to imprison and smite celestial fiends, those who practice dark magic, and demons. It can also cast special magic. He was also granted a longsword with engravings that honor the gods history, a golden hilt, and white handle. He was granted bright silver armor, covered in blue cloths, golden trimmings, and a feathered plume on the winged helmet. Years past, and Salcarus carries out his duties, training soldiers, leading battles, catering to the King and his daughters, and preaching religion to the people. It was a happy life, one he was fortunate enough to have. That was all until things took a very, very dark turn... The war of the heavens and six layers of hell. A war that's lasted millennia. Between the Kingdom of Divinus and the City of the Abyss. So many lives lost, so many battles. These battles we're usually rare. But sometimes things would get very intense and multiple battles would happen, but there was never a clear winner. Things settled down, until that fateful day. No one had seen it, expected it, but they felt it. Especially Divinus. The Abyssals we're camping in the forest, waiting for dusk. Once midnight hit, they ambushed the city from all sides, bringing fire to the city. It all happened so fast. They began to seep into the city, burning homes and businesses down, and murdering the people. Salcarus acted fast. He sent soldiers to the outer walls of the city to suppress the Abyssals, while he and the rest of the nights went out the front gates to confront the rest of the invaders. Salcarus fought for the holy gods, Enfernam fought for the Dark God's. Enfernam was the hand of the Dark Gods themselves. Therefore he ruled over his own Kingdom. He was gifted an ultra great sword from the Dark Gods, crafted by the demons of hell. It was engulfed in fire and carried the powers of the Dark Gods. As soon as Salcarus walked out the gate, he instantly recognized the man. It was the only person he truly had any hate for. Enfernam. Though both saw each other, and they had a stair down. Salcarus let out a battle cry and him and his knights charged towards Enfernam and his troops. Enfernam pointed his giant sword forward and his soldiers charged as well, before heading forward towards Salcarus.  Salcarus held his shield forward and bashed his shield with incredible force into Enfernam's chest, sending him back a few feet. Then he followed up with a swing of his sword, but being bashed away by Enfernam's hand. Enfernam swung his fiery greatsword, Salcarus blocking with his shield. But this sword was different. Salcarus' shield and Enfernam's greatsword were both crafted by Gods. This meant that they cancelled out eachother's special properties, meaning his swords magic could affect Salcarus' shield. The sheer force behind this sword was too much for Salcarus, sending him back, and tripping onto the ground. Salcarus got up, the wind knocked out of him. "Foolish." Your kingdom is already at loss. Surrender and I might spare your life." Said Enfernam. Salcarus turned around, staring back at a flaming Divinus. He could hear swords clashing, and the screaming of civilians. He turned towards Enfernam, before yelling and locking swords with Enfernam. Enfernam was much stronger than Salcarus. He easily pushed the holy man off and lifted his sword for the killing blow on a tired, weak, and defeated Salcarus. But before he could connect the sword to Salcarus' neck, a boulder shot from a catapult landed next to them, sending them both flying, stunning both of them. When Salcarus regained his bearings, he looked around. His soldiers were being killed by the hell knights, and there was nothing he could do. He realized he was right next to the forest. He realized that he would die with the rest of the kingdom. He had to stay alive, to carry on Divinus' legacy. He stood up and ran into the forest. Once he was deep enough he opened the portal in his shield and went into it, closing the shield behind him. He waited, and waited. He waited in there for about two days, before leaving. He left his armor in the shield, simply wearing a hooded cloak, to hide his identity, but kept his sword on hand. He set up camp in the forest. Although struggling to do so, he eventually was able to accept what happened. He lit up the campfire and sat by it, placing his face into his hands.
