Companion

Death was minding his own business reading the news when something hit him in the face, something soft and squishy like a fuzzy pillow.
"Wha-" He looked around the room frantically to see who had launched this projectile at him. It was Oom standing in the doorway- she had thrown the pillow at him. She was 14- old enough to have outgrown such things. "Oom, why did you do that?" He asked with a polite concern.
She was grinning "I love him! Look at him!" She exclaimed, she had lost it. Why was she referring to the pillow as a him. Even in all his doubt he did as she said and looked down, he realized it was not a pillow. In fact it was alive- it was odd... well it's not like he hadn't seen stranger aliens before but it was a slug, a fuzzy slug, a giant 15 pound fuzzy slug. It had no bones or organs, nothing but squishy soft slug-ness.
"Where did you get this?" Was all he could think to say- he had seen many things, he knew most things but never in his life had he seen one of these before. He tried to pick it up but it was so squishy and boneless it practically melted out of his grip and onto the floor. It was slimey, but not producing any slime- it was so strange.
She shrugged "Why does that matter?" She asked picking him up with ease, he seemed to be happy in her arms and did not melt away.
He did not like that answer "Oom. Where did you get the slug?"  he asked sternly.
She didn't say anything for a moment, but she couldn't lie to her father "... From a shady slug dealer." She admitted looking at the ground.
"Oom!"
She pouted and held up the slug "Look how cuteeeee he issssssss!!!" Death sighed and she continued "He's harmless!!... As long as you feed him!"
Oh no- he didn't want to ask but "What does he eat?"
"...Flesh."
"Oh." A long pause "Then that's alright I guess." maybe having a soft squooshy slug companion wouldn't be so bad.
