A large, decorative tank or fountain has been stocked with elusive, glowing fish for you to try your hand at catching. Some say they're actually transformed fair goers who were caught cheating at the games. Draw or write about your Reos fishing for the magical fish!

-Thedale/Fair-

A fair? In the middle of a desert? How unusual. And exciting. The snowflake puller was more than ready to get in on the action. There was the usual bustle of a fair as it drew the attention of everyone around. Iniko felt the sun beat down and warm his pelt, but once he entered the area of the fair, he felt the magic of the area soothe the heat, making it more bearable.

A small red chaser bounded up to him! “Heya!” She didn’t give him a chance to respond when she chattered aimlessly. “I’m Ember! I’ve been floating around trying to see what’s going on and you would be perfect to check things out with me let’s go!” She ran behind him and pushed him forward, and he chuckled at her futile efforts before giving in. She seemed like the perfect companion to get into some trouble with. “I want to try fishing but I can’t see into the water far, you gotta be my eyes!” Iniko chuckled again and let her lead the way. As they approached the fish tank, it wasn’t the sparkling glowing fish that drew his attention; it was the sparkling red and white vayron nearby. “Heya good looking. Want to be my lucky charm? I gotta impress the little lady.” He winked and gestured to the smaller vay. He was a bit of a flirt, and he was here for fun.

The words hooked the half snow and ruby coated vayron’s attention, which in turn made him reel his head towards his caller. Once their eyes met and almost their snouts, his expression softened and a light short chuckle escaped him, as though the words slightly caught him by surprise, but a wide beam clearly showed his amusement and penchant for that kind of talk.

The ruby vayron leaned into his smile even more, turning his whole body towards the two newly met vayons this time and greeting them both with a kind warm smile, his long mane dwindled long past his shoulders, gleaming with soft glow-like dusted that stretched out onto the back of his coat like stars.

Ember, the small chaser, seemed even more enthused and couldn’t help but wiggle her three kitsune tails in anticipation, she eagerly expected a positive response to get the help she so desired.

“My...” Koma teasingly replied, picking up on the excitement, “Well, let’s see how we fair together.” saying while smiling back at the snowflaked puller this time.

His approval sent Ember into cheers, even if his answer wasn’t entirely directed at her she was overjoyed to finally have found some partners for this fishing game. She bounded excitedly next to the water tank that was as tall as herself, trying to peek over the edge but could barely comfortably rest head head onto the rim, yet her tails kept wagging for what seemed endlessly.

Iniko was glad the male didn’t shy away from his words. It was about a fifty-fifty chance when he flirted with the same sex, and this time he hit a mark. His words and Ember’s enthusiasm nailed down that they were likely to be stuck together, at least for a little while.

The sand beneath his toes reminded him they were in his homeland, but he suspected the place to be able to move just judging by how diverse the reoseans here were. Some bundled in coats that wouldn’t fit in the desert, others wearing strange garb he had never seen such styles of before.

As Ember tried to peer into the fish tank, Iniko came up behind her, and snaked his head under her rear end, and picked it up, sliding her down his neck to come to a stop on the blanket mark across his back. She squealed in excitement, clearly happy to be up at a taller vantage point, and peered further into the tank.

“I’m Iniko by the way.” He introduced himself to the others, realizing he hadn’t said his own name when he went to think of the other male’s name. He peered across the way, noticing some were fishing with rods, while others were fishing with their mouths, trying to catch the darting fish. He saw why Ember was entranced by them, the swirling glow and sparkling reminded him of her pelt, and it was clear why she chose this game first.

“Alrighty my dears. How do we want to play this out? I’m sure the little lady here might need a rod, not sure how well you can reach from there. And maybe our dearest ruby vay would rather keep his hair dry? I have no compunctions about trying to snap one out of the water.”

“Mine’s Koma, pleasure to meet you both!” He said with eyes now glued to the scattering glowing fish. They smelled strongly of magic, let alone their otherworldly looks and skittish natures; those fish looked nothing like anything he had ever seen and were clearly a fabrication of this Fair’s realms, or so he liked to believe, but it didn’t matter to him.

“Now, tell you what, I bet I can snatch a fish with just my jaws before you two can, even with my hair untied~” Koma challenged in a playful taunt, giving a little head tilt to fling his bangs behind his dumbo ears and glancing back at them with a smug smirk on his face.

“Oh you’re on!!” Ember yelped with high pitched excitement, making the others around them peer their way for a moment, priming those to try and fish something even faster before the pond would be emptied.

Koma grinned and waited for the puller’s reaction, hoping he’d rise to his challenge but also partly to impress him. He’d be lying to himself if he wasn’t already having a blast at the thought of this fishing contest with his newly met acquaintances which he already deemed as great company during his first Fair.

“Oh, oh it’s on.” The sandstone vay grinned as he moved closer to the tank, standing sideways so Ember could still access it from her perch. The tiny chaser was standing on his wide back, determined to reach into the pool on her own.

Iniko blushed a little with Koma’s graceful movements. If he had hair, it would be all over his face had he tried that stunt, with large ears smacking him for good measure.

He tried not to let the other male distract him though, as he focused on the clearly magical fish. Iniko didn’t have a lot of experience with magic, the only experience with it was when someone tried to zap him as he was running from the guard, or fall into a magic trap when he was trying to get somewhere he wasn’t supposed to. Still, he assumed this sort of magic was safe, and he watched for an opportunity to lunge. He had almost forgotten about everyone else around him, focused on the fish. As one swam closer, he lunged. His mistake was made apparent as he heard Ember yelping right before a large splash.

Turns out the small misty chaser had lunged at the same time, and the motions combined unsteadied her, tossing her into the pool where she floundered. Shit. The male dunked his muzzle into the water, grabbing hold of one of her tails, pulling her back to safety. He was worried she would be mad but once she finished spitting out water, she was laughing, and he was more than relieved. Still, their folly cost him time, and he was afraid of turning around, just knowing that Koma was about to have them beat.

The water from the splash distracted Koma and he flinched when it poured all over. He watched Iniko fetch out Ember wide-eyed but couldn’t help but belly a laugh when the little chaser got pulled back out safely and cackling. The snowflaked puller hadn’t noticed because of his concern but not only did she get a good laugh out of it but she had managed to catch a glowing fish. She hung the large catch high above her and the others to show her prize, proud and triumphant.

“You’ve clearly won this round!” Koma admitted in between laughter and shaking off the water from his coat and mane, making sure to soak Iniko playfully at the same time before he continued;

“I guess this means I need to try and beat you in another game, what do you say?”

END.
