-Vitalus/Fair-

Iniko was pretty impressed that Ember had managed to catch a fish after all. Koma’s taunting response of wanting to try another game was just up his alley.

“Of course.” His response had the little chaser cheering.

She clearly enjoyed the fair games. As he turned to find another game for them to play, he found a booth advertising a scavenger hunt. He gestured with his head and headed over towards it, letting Ember bounce ahead and stand on top toe to read the flyers. He grabbed one and brought it down to her. The thing they had to find was ambiguous. A golden treasure of sorts, making it harder to find in the first place. If found, they were to return it, and then it would be hidden again with magic so no one could cheat and follow.

“A golden bauble hidden somewhere huh? Well, Should we work as a team to find it before anyone else, or is it every reo for himself?”

His eyes held mischief. He didn’t mind either way, competition was competition. He could crush these two himself, or they could use their unique skills to their advantage. Ember could already search low, and he could handle the heights. Koma was a runner, and fast. He could easily see him speeding around to help them look.

“What do you two say?”

A twinkle in Koma's eyes told the Puller he was ready for a challenge, but before he could even spill the words to reply he cut himself short when a sudden shift of light happened.

On these magical grounds, a low rumble could be felt below their paws, where patches of sand once were, it seemed now as though they had reached hearty grass for as long as the eye could see, not only did the landscape seem to change within a blink of the eye, but the day sky turned into night. The atmosphere was entirely different, clusters of crystals were spread across the grounds with their soft glow emanating from each and every one of them. It would be hard now to find anything in such a dark and crystal filled plain.

This stumped the small group for a moment, Koma’s eyes locked onto the beautiful starry night sky, admiring the magic that coursed through the Fair with awe. The tents and booths surrounding them lit up their festive lights that stretched all around them.

“Wow!” Ember broke the silence first with her usual cheerful glee.

“Well, why don’t we stick together for this one?” Koma replied.

The small red genie chaser tilted her head towards the snow and ruby coated vayron’s direction, curious.

“I’d prefer to stick with my favourite group, than losing it-” the runner chuckled. “And I think it’d be great to get to know each other better while we start this scavenger hunt.”

The magic of the place made itself evident, as the entire ground shifted. Soon he found himself in a place with lots of greenery, which he touched gingerly with his paws. He had never seen so much grass before! It was so springy to step on, and much more forgiving than the hot sand.

The crystal clusters too sparkled and caught his attention, and he found himself almost missing his companions words. Ember seemed right at home with the weird and magical. She excitedly bounced around, and chattered endlessly. “Well I’m usually at home in Roenden, so if this keeps changing, we might see lots of snow! And I’ve been around for gosh knows how long.” She kept going on about this and that and spoke so fast that Iniko struggled to follow it.

He chuckled at her antics, and decided they might as well keep looking while they talked and gestured for her to lead the way. He kept his head up high to see at eye level above the others, looking for anything that sparkled gold. The change in atmosphere didn’t help, as he kept thinking he found something, only for it to be one of those crystals in the landscape.

“Well, I’m from Thedale, if you couldn’t tell. That’s where my dad’s from too. He taught me some of the … more unsavory ways to have fun.” He winked as he said it. They both knew how to party, and things like thievery were more of the funner activities they knew about.

He looked over at Koma, and his breath caught as their hair and pelt caught the sparkles of the landscape. He could tell the other male was right at home. It fit him perfectly. “So uhh, what about you?” He did his best to keep looking for the golden treasures, but kept finding himself directed by the way the light glittered off of the ruby and snow vay.

With a gentle smile, Koma glanced over briefly when he was spoken to, only to realise that both Iniko and Ember were looking at him curiously, awaiting an answer while they kept on searching.

“Oh, well…” he began, thinking carefully as though this all felt far in his memory, then with a light chuckle he continued;

“I don’t quite remember where I’m from originally. My father has always brought me with him on his travels, so I’ve been all across the realms. Though, lately we’ve been spending time in Vitalus. Funny that the Fair brought it here” He huffed a giggle “You should visit sometime, it’s a beautiful place!”

As he finished his sentence, his eyes caught onto something and he squinted with a lowered head. Were his eyes tricking him? He kept the pace with his group, but couldn't seem to remove his gaze from the particular area.

Iniko couldn’t help but agree with that assessment that it was a beautiful place. What bits he could see were stunning. And he could imagine that many there were rich with all those crystals around. It made him wonder if Koma and his family had the same kind of wealth that those from Vitalus were rumored to have, even if they did travel.

“I will for sure have to visit sometime.” He smiled with his words, and the little chaser almost talked over him in her excitement.

“Oh I should come sometime too! That would be loads of fun!” Ember seemed more concerned with chatting than looking, which was just fine. Iniko could be competitive, but as long as everyone was having fun, that was what mattered right?

He was dragged along by her, so her happiness was the highest priority. Iniko noticed Koma’s attention seemed to have wavered, and he glanced at the area the other male looked in. He lowered his head a bit, but whatever it was, it was lower than his usual height to see. He nudged the little chaser with a paw to get her attention. “See something over there?”

Those words were almost like whispers, but Ember heard him loud and clear. She perked to the direction that was mentioned and spotted it immediately, her height was perfect for this and her eyes glistened with glee.

She could barely hold in her excitement and a squeal escaped her throat, shortly after, she bolted away.

Koma flinched in surprise at the little red genie chaser’s sudden change of paths, cutting right in front of him. He dragged his gaze away for just a moment to realise she was going after what he had found.

“I FOUND IT!!” She yelped aloud, her voice cracking with joy.

“Man…” the snow and ruby runner spoke, sounding almost astounded while glancing over his shoulder to see Iniko. “She figured it out before I did” He let out a chuckle, seeing as how she was now circling and bouncing excitedly around the bauble.

Iniko chuckled watching Ember dance around with glee as she found the bauble. Clearly she was just the right size for this. Iniko on his own never would have found it, tucked just out of sight under a table in the grass.

He would have had to crawl his way throughout the fair to even have had a chance at it.

“Good idea on working together. For once, my height was against me.”

The little chaser was still bouncing around with excitement, and had turned to go turn it into the booth, cheering all the way. Her excitement was contagious, and many other vays around smiled at her cheery bounce as she turned in the bauble, pointing back at the two males, indicating they had been with her so they could mark down who won. Iniko hadn’t even been paying attention to the prizes. Tickets maybe? He saw some younger vays with stuffed animals and balloons. Ah well, it didn’t matter to him. As long as they were having fun.

He full on laughed watching her as she did a jump in the air with glee, and glanced over at Koma. “Well my dear, I suspect that isn’t the end of the fair games we could play. Up for some more?” He hoped the sparkling vay would be up for it. He was enjoying the company of these two, and would love to continue to see more of the fair with them.

END.
