Tyle is unsure about his first trip to an actual beach. Having been raised on an island, Neko is a natural at teaching him to enjoy the water. She gets more comfortable as the day wears on, even daring to take her jacket off and reveal her scars. Tyle reassures her about them, and together, they have a fun day doing nothing of importance.

Neko laughs freely as she runs towards the water, loving every minute of her and Tyle’s time on the beach. It makes sense after all - she was born on an island, so beaches are second nature to her. She looks back at her friend, giving him a wide grin full of mirth as she finds herself in the water.

“C’mon Tyle!” Neko hollers, waving her hands for the shorter male to join her. “This is so much fun! You gotta try it!”

Tyle, on the other hand, isn’t as enthusiastic about the whole trip as Neko is. He hasn’t been around many beaches and seeing how vast it is makes anxiety trickle in his nerves. But when he notices Neko’s wide smiles and how happy she is, well, he can’t help but to indulge her.

“Fine, fine, I’m comin’,” Tyle mumbles, moving off his towel and from underneath their beach umbrella to walk towards her with trepidation. The sand feels weird under and between his toes, but Tyle shakes it away as he makes his way towards the one he’s had feelings for for as long as he can remember.

When he reaches Neko, he doesn’t expect her to shove him face first in salt water. Tyle coughs and gags at the taste - it’s vile. But Neko laughs and laughs, tail swishing happily and ears twitching as she does.

“I’m gonna get you for that!” Tyle exclaims when he resurfaces, making Neko shriek as he pushes her in the water as well. She’s luckier than him - her face stays above water, so she didn’t have to taste that disgusting salt.

“Tyle, you jerk!” Neko cries out, but the grin lingering on her lips doesn’t back up the anger in her voice. Tyle laughs, his own grin quirking his lips upwards.

“That’s what you get,” Tyle says, grin widening. “What else do you wanna do?”

“When you go to the beach, you must make a sandcastle!” Neko exclaims. “But I wanna cool off first.”

“I can cool you off,” Tyle mutters, snickering. Neko blushes and splashes water in his face.

“Not that kind of cooling off, you pervert. Let’s go!”

The pair spend at least an hour in the water, splashing one another and dunking each other every now and again. Whenever they leave the ocean, Neko strips off her jacket, exposing her scars to the summer air.

Tyle blinks. He wasn’t expecting Neko to expose herself like that. And when he looks upon them, he almost does a double take at how many there are and the severity of them.

No wonder she doesn’t like fire… Tyle thinks to himself. The burn scars are particularly horrendous. But he doesn’t want to act weird about seeing her without her jacket, so when she looks back at him with curiosity written in her eyes, Tyle gives her yet another smile and winks, making her blush yet again.

“We gonna build this sandcastle or what?” Tyle queries, resting a hand on Neko’s exposed shoulder. She flinches a little at the touch, but gives him her own smile and nod, kneeling in the sand to start the process of building their sandcastle.

Tyle kneels to help her as well, piling sand in his hands and forming it. Neko seems a bit nervous during the whole escapade, and well, Tyle can’t have that. “No one’s looking,” he says softly.

“W-Wha?” Nekp squeaks, cat eyes snapping up to look at him.

“I know you’re self conscious, but you don’t have to be. Your scars are a part of you and if anyone tries to start something with us because of them, well, I ain’t scared to tell them to fuck off.”

“Tyle…” Neko whispers, tears gathering in her eyes. “Thank you.”

“Now now, don’t start crying on me!” Tyle says with a grin, scooting over to catch tears that fall from her eyes. “This is supposed to be a fun day, remember? No tears.”

“Right,” Neko murmurs, laughing quietly. “You always know how to cheer me up. Thank you… again.”

“Hush, no need to thank me, Nek. I’ll always be here, scars and all.”

Neko smiles a little, curling against Tyle momentarily before pressing a kiss against his cheek. “I don’t know what I’d do without you… I still can’t believe we met when I tried to rob you.”

“Yeah, and even when you left, I sobbed like a baby. But I guess I can be forgiven due to what happened…”

“Now you’re thinking dark thoughts. None of that,” Neko chastises, bopping Tyle on the head. “Let’s make this castle, shall we?”

“Race ya!” Tyle grins, starting to gather and form sand.

“You’re on!”
