Green military fatigues
A dusty eyepatch
A bandana that’s not his
A scarcely used hush puppy
Hands mastering in CQC.
He’s always there,
Watching,
But you never
See him.
He sneaks up,
Blends with the
Shadows, nimble
Fingers gripping
Your neck, before
You even realize
He’s there.
He works clean,
Barely leaves a trace,
Working alone.
He’s on a mission,
One that challenges
His morals.
His country,
Or his personal beliefs?
War has changed.
War changes people.
When you’re on
The battlefield
As much as he is,
You begin
To forget
Who you really
Are.
