Dalton Wholsis and Accomplice Charged With Harboring Children In Illegal Lab Operation

Early this morning, police reports were filed on an abandoned building off of 23rd street in the industrial district. The report included signs of illegal personnel entering said abandoned building. The reporter claimed that they saw “gang-looking people” entering the building, and wanted to notify the police of the break-in.

Police arrived on the scene at 10:35 am on Monday, April first, and began their regular routine for breaking-and-entering cases. Police were shocked at what they had found inside the building.

The officer on duty, Officer Smith, opened the door and called out to whoever was inside. He stated, “from the inside, this didn’t look like a rundown factory. This is an operation.” He and his team inspected the outside of the building, as well as scoped the inside. What they had found was stomach-churning. “Rows of cages. Rooms of [lab] equipment. Metal tables and blood on the floor- but smelled like strong cleaner and chemicals.” Smith stated. “It was a lab. And they were testing children.”

Smith had called for backup, and the whole district’s police department was called onto the scene. The team scavenged the lab operation, finding more clues as to what went on inside the building. To their surprise, they found many boxes of test tubes, needles, and lab coats with numbers ranging from 04-300 on them. Lab coats 01-03 were missing. Along with that, there were grey uniforms that pointed towards being sized for children labeled from 001-026. This is where the idea that children were tested here sprung from. “There must have been a tip because, by the time we got there, there was nobody there except for tons of physical evidence,” Smith stated.

As the police continued their investigation, two suspects walked onto the scene carrying cardboard boxes. One was male, brunette, 5’10, and the other was female, blonde, 5’6. They walked together nonchalantly to a car and got in together. Police stopped the vehicle about a block away from the scene only to realize that it was Dalton Wholsis and his accomplice Kathryn Reed- who had helped to break Wholsis out of Oak Asylum two decades earlier.

The pair were promptly arrested by Officer Smith and taken for investigation. Both have rejected stating their reasoning, and have pleaded guilty to the crimes. No trace of the children who were tested remains, and further investigation will be going into it to solve what they have done to them.

Wholsis Labs? How long has this been going on?

Last week, Dalton Wholsis and his accomplice Kathryn Reed were arrested for fleeing the scene of an alleged lab operation. Both were detained for questioning by Officer Smith and rejected every accusation the offer made against them.

“Wholsis is notorious for fessing up his crimes,” Smith stated. “But he’s dead silent.”

Kathryn Reed was the one doing the most talking, according to Smith.

“Yes, there were children. Twenty six. They have been re-homed and are safe.” She claimed in an interrogation. “Dalton was behind it all. I was only dragged along.” She also pleaded.

Smith then decided to let Reed off with a 40 day jail sentence for being an accomplice in the crime. They turned their efforts on to Wholsis and getting him to talk. “He likes his ego and to take credit, but this didn’t seem like him. He was almost sad to have been caught this time.” Smith stated. “They’re my kids!” Wholsis had shouted, according to Smith. “You can’t arrest me for having children!” “There were 26 uniforms. You mean to say you have 26 children?”

Wholsis had continued to plead not guilty until a surprise witness showed up to the police station. A twenty year old male whom looked to be homeless had been brought into the police station by the chief Officer Short. He went by the name of Brandon Wholsis.

Brandon claims to have first hand experience inside of the labs, being Wholsis’s third child. An excerpt from his testimony is below.

“I was born and raised in that building. Kathryn was my mom and Dalton my dad. They treated me like a dog. I lived in a cage. They played favorites with my two sisters who are twins. They made us fight each other. There’s only 16 of us left out of the 26! My siblings all got re-homed while I got thrown onto the street. Dalton and Kathryn tested on us- trying to give us powers or something. My older sister has wings like a bird, and her twin can shoot lightning out of thin air. I was their least favorite because I never was strong enough to get powers. I’m 21 years old, and my sisters are 25. Dalton and Kathryn need to be caught.”

This testimony was enough to get Wholsis talking and for him to be sentenced to life in federal prison for child endangerment and abuse.
