Of course Marble had a goddamn ballroom in this mansion of a house, Devon thought. He was sure that he had explored every inch of their home while the taller man was at work, and yet here he was, being led into a room that echoed his shoe clacks back to him.

“Since when has this been here?” Devon said. Marble turned back to face him, the hand he was using to lead the shorter man yanking him so that they were inches apart.

“Since forever.” Marble said, with a small smile. “Can I have this dance, Von?” He put a hand on Devon’s back, and held his hand up as though they were going to waltz. Marble could see a blush subtly grace Devon’s face.

“You know I’m not a good dancer.” Devon said, but he put his own free hand on Marble’s back as well. Marble shook his head.

“Don’t be modest. We’re just having fun.” And with that, he started to lead Devon along the dance floor. The shorter man sighed softly. Devon always liked dancing with his husband. He laid his head on Marble’s chest, letting his eyes close, and felt the both of them sway.

Marble smiled, watching his smaller husband dance along with him. There was something about how Devon’s face twisted in a small, tired smile that made Marble’s heart flutter.

They were both strained, tired men. At times, they didn’t understand their feelings, or their relationship, or their lives. But these moments of peace, where they find comfort and love in each other, was what made their relationship worth it.

They danced for what felt like hours, drinking up the quiet presence of each other.

When their dancing slowed, Marble leaned down and kissed the top of Devon’s head. Devon let go of his hand so that he could hug Marble with both hands around the waist. Marble did the same, swaying the both of them to a small, humming tune.

Devon smelled Marble’s cologne on his skin. Marble could smell the moisturizer he put in Devon’s hair. When their swaying slowed, Devon opened his eyes and looked up at his husband. Marble gave him a grin, and leaned down to kiss him.

Devon’s heart fluttered. He reached up to hold onto Marble’s face, and returned his kiss. They kissed each other again and again, until Marble was giggling against his lips. The taller man pushed their foreheads together so he could get a word in.

“You could kiss me for hours, couldn’t you, shorty?” Devon snorted at the nickname.

“Your lips are very kissable.” He answered.

“Lets go upstairs or something. You’re making my back hurt.” Marble said, straightening his back so that Devon couldn’t kiss him anymore.

That’s exactly what they did. They curled up together in their bed, in a way so that Marble’s back could stay straight, and kissed each other.
