What do you call that feeling...

He’s not too sure how it happens. Felix can’t even remember what they were talking about, probably something stupid. Something only Jack would think to bring up in a normal conversation. And whatever they were doing before must not have been important, considering he can’t think of anything but the way his legs are pressed up against Jack’s warm sides. The man under him is solid, but shaking with laughter. Radiant, and filling the small room of their shared apartment with life.

He’d never felt so sure that he’d loved him.

Jack stops suddenly, smile dropping.

“What’s wrong?”

“Huh” Felix says, dumbly.

“Is there something on my face?” Jack squirms.

“Uh--n--no...” is all Felix can say before feeling the resolve settle firm, deep in his chest, “but I-- I need to tell you something.”

“Oh, well--you know you can tell me anything, right? What's up?”

“I-”

The rattle of keys sound in the doorway, and the two snap their heads toward Carrie, standing awkwardly in the entrance to their flat with a bag of cheap rum from the corner store.

“...Am I interrupting something?” she says in her usual flat, deadpan.

“No!” Felix nearly screeches as he leaps off of Jack, who gets up slower, eyeing him strangely.

“Good,” Carrie says, stepping aside to show a shorter woman, pale, with auburn hair, and blue eyes. Also carrying groceries.

“This is Nadia,” Carrie says, shutting the door behind her with her foot, “my prof asked me to show her around, and she just mentioned that she’s never had instant ramen. I needed to rectify that immediately.” Carrie drones.

“Make yourself at home.” Jack says, and if his smile is a little strained, it goes unnoticed.
