Joey sniffed cautiously around an unsettlingly sterile room before shuddering. To put it simply the room felt wrong, likely because she could recall her counterpart’s memories. The poor thing had been made and experimented on in a room as clean as this one. Not to mention the whole needle incident, just thinking about it caused her stomach to tie itself up in knots and if she wasn’t covered in fur it would have been possible to see her becoming quite pale. Well, time to get her explanation ready.

She closed her eyes and focused on the blankets sitting in her room in the hive. With a slash of her claws she stared at a cat curled up on her bed. The tuxedo alchemist laid curled up with his tail tucked over his nose. The wyvern grinned as she watched the tiny cat’s paw twitch slightly, indicating that he was dreaming about smacking something. Slowly, she reached out and scratched the cat as gently as possible leaving a tiny cut on the cat’s ear. What a cute kitty… no... focus….

She glanced away from Cookie to look for the blankets, huh, they were folded now… did Clarence do that? Probably. The wyvern crawled through the portal, so she could grab the blankets. She gazed over the bright multi-colored patchwork blankets specifically at a patch of bright candy apple red. Such a lovely color almost as lovely as grape purple…. Focus! The soft material pressed up against her talons as she pulled the blankets through the portal. A loud clack caused her to jump involuntarily. Oh, it's just him.

“How’s your new arm?” Joey asked amusement danced in her eyes.

“As good as a fake arm can be.” Answered Dr. {REDACTED}

“Well, that was your own fault.” Joey laughed.

“Right.” The doctor answered dryly.

“my portals mangle living things that aren’t me,” Joey stated.

Joey tossed the blankets into the air before snagging one with the claws of her wings. Her claws tore through the soft fabric as she attempted to fold it. If only she had actual hands… yeah, hands would make this easier.

“fold this!” she demanded as she tossed the blanket.

With a groan the doctor caught the blanket being tossed at him, she had said earlier that she needed the blanket to explain her portals. He grimaced, this childish creature surely didn’t understand what it was doing enough to explain it. Joey huffed as the folded blanket was shoved back into her wings. RUDE. Her tail whipped about as she considered how to say her thoughts.

“well, you said you could explain your portals.” The doctor snapped.

A lesser being making demands!? Now that will not do, not one bit. Joey snarled bearing her teeth and her ears laid back. A deep growl filled the room as she pounced on the doctor, pinning the feeble human on the ground. The wyvern’s jaw unhinged to allow a more thorough view of her tooth filled maw, acidic saliva dripped off the jagged fangs onto the human’s soft skin.

“Know your place.” Joey hissed in a deep, distorted voice.

“s-sorry,” the doctor answered.

Sorry alone is not good enough, a lesson must be learned. A lesser being must NEVER make demands. Her tail flicked rapidly as she considered what to do to him. A mauling? No, he’s just a human that would end their little game right away. The punishment should be painful but, not deadly.

Take his other arm.

The thought rang out through her mind, yet it wasn’t hers. The voice of her counterpart filled her mind.

His arm take it. Take it. He already doesn’t like having one missing.

Yes, taking his other arm would be suitable punishment and she was already in a good position for it. She felt the man squirm under her and slammed her claws down onto his chest. SUBMIT. She leaned forward so that it appeared that she was going to attempt to swallow him, allowing her saliva to burn his tender flesh. At the last second, she whipped her head around towards his arm and bit firmly into his arm. His scream sent waves of pain through her ears as she tugged on his arm, careful to tear only a few tendons at a time.

Kill him, kill the scientist.

She honestly couldn’t blame her counterpart for being so hostile towards scientists, she didn’t like them either. As her counterpart’s voice rang out she found not killing the man became harder. KILL. No, a lesson is good enough for now. Next time he showed insolence, however, would be his end.

“QUIET.” Joey snarled as she tossed the now severed arm across the room.

Silence, someone has learned his place. With a scowl, she stalked up to the camera in the corner of the room before yelling at it.

“GET YOUR PATHETIC LEADER.” She yelled while slamming her tail on the ground.

Joey dug her claws into the corner of the room and climbed up the wall. Her claws left punctures within the drywall as she pulled herself higher up. Joey’s ears twitched as footsteps approached the room, judging by the noise 3 larger staff members were arriving to grab the doctor. They could take him away it was his fault for speaking out of turn. Oh well, she could just explain it to someone else.

She grabbed one of the staff members and tugged her close.

“I have decided to tell you how my portals work, LISTEN WELL.” Joey hissed.

Without waiting, she dropped the folded blankets on the ground. The lessons would start now.

“Reality is like a big folded blanket and like a blanket, it can be cut,” Joey explained.

The wyvern gently placed a claw against the fabric before creating a small gash, revealing the bright scarlet layer beneath.

“One can access various locations depending on how deep one cuts.”

Joey slammed her claws down onto the blanket once again, tearing through multiple blankets at once. The various colors of layers could be seen. With a hiss Joey clawed the blankets until they were just scraps of fabric.

“However, like a blanket to many gashes will cause it to fall apart. So, I just Close any portal I find. They can be closed the same way they are opened.”

Shadows from around Joey’s claws began to tug the edges of the gashes together until the blankets seemed good as new. Joey snatched up the blanket to examine it, yes it was properly fixed. She tossed the blanket onto the ground and began to trot around the room. The sound of footsteps confirmed that her chosen audience was indeed following.

“You don’t need to follow… anyways see these two blankets? See how the third patch is purple on this one but blue on the bottom one. The same but different, that can be said about various parts of the multiverse… yes, multiverse...”

Joey began pacing rapidly about the room while dragging the blankets with her tail. Her claws clicked loudly against the tile flooring. Irritating.

“invest in carpet it’s quieter. Anyways think of infinite blankets, folded and unfolded, stacked, folded over, under and around each other. Each blanket is different but connected to others in some way. This difference could be a slight color difference or an entirely different material with different stitch patterns….” Joey trailed off as she pondered if she was making sense, her tail flicked about rapidly.

The overpowering metallic scent of blood filled her nostrils. Acidic saliva dripped onto the ground as Joey opened her mouth to taste the scent. Blood, Flesh… Food! The maddening scent began to override all thoughts… she must eat, who knows when she would get another meal. (calm down there, you ate half an hour ago) She turned her head to look for the source of the scent… gone, the doctor had already been moved out of the room. Joey jumped through the open door and ran down the hall, following the bloody scent. If she was lucky she could snag the discarded bodies before her counterpart could come sniffing around.
