I clenched my scythe tightly with both hands, my knees bent. I was the only thing between this horrible darkness, and my friend's inevitable death. I couldn't, WOULDN'T let that happen. No more. You won't kill anyone else. The dark figure laughed at me, mockingly. He knew I was desperate. I clenched my jaw, my eyes flaming. I wouldn't let him get inside. Not now. I had to protect them, and I wouldn't let him get in the way.

I lunged forward with all the speed I could muster, slamming the blade of my scythe down where he would have been, my strength fueled by my anger. But this time, my anger came from good. Of course, the figure dodged it with ease, only taunting me. "I threw you into a wall earlier, you idiot!" He cackled with glee. "And now you think you're really able to protect your friends??" I didn't care. I didn't have to answer him, he knew my thoughts. I swiveled around on my heels, facing him again.

I roared in anger, dashing towards him. I swung again, my blade cutting through ash. I huffed, the ache in my side throbbing more than ever. I tried to use that pain as energy, thinking through what Headmaster had taught me. I whipped around again, searching for that dark foe. I felt a hard slap against the back of my head, causing me to fall face first onto the ground. I quickly tried to scramble to my feet, but I was too late.

I felt the cold hook plunge into my side, the hot fluid soaking my vest. I let out a breath, my hands shaking. The scythe faded, then vanished, my energy fading away from me. I turned around, looking at the horrified look on Pine's face. I couldn't bear it, seeing them both sitting there, Headmaster's head in her lap. What would happen to them? I took one step, his horrid laughing surrounding me. One more step, my whole body burning in pain.

Three. I fell to my knees, my strength rapidly dissipating. My arms started to shake, as I watched the black life drip from my chin. I looked up at Pine, giving her one last smile. "...I tried." I wheezed, my arms giving out. I heard her scramble over to me, trying to save me. But I knew it wouldn't help. My body relaxed, I couldn't feel that pain anymore. Sweet relief flooded over me, my eyes glazing over. I'm so sorry...forgive me, Origin. Goodbye...
