Cycle 2

Laku blinks his eyes rapidly, trying desperately to clear his vision of the fogginess that engulfs it. He doesn't know where he is, but it certainly isn't where he usually is when he dreams. Before long, the mist begins to part. Three mysterious symbols stood before him, blacker than the forest surrounding him. They were so dark they stood out.

"Earth. Air. Water." A mysterious voice whispered in his ear, "Which matches your first choice? Why is that?"

"What? What first choice? I just got here!" Laku shouts into the void. But nobody answered. There was no response, just the soft whisper of wind. Laku whips his tail in frustration. Of COURSE there isn't an answer... He thought. Okay, Laku, let's try to rationalize this. There wasn't a first choice, so any decision you make now can't be wrong. Right? I'll just pick the one I feel most drawn to. It was earth, then air, then water. He made little marks in the ground in front of the symbols as a reminder.

Well, if I had to choose, it definitely wouldn't be water. He thought. Most of his performances are fire based, so he works in a fairly dry environment to make sure the fire stays burning. He crosses out his water symbol reminder.

It's either earth or air, but I'm not sure which one I'd pick. Air is required for life, as well as fire, but I'm much more familiar with earth. Laku sighed, unsure of what to choose. I think, if I had to make a decision, I'd go with air. He rationalized. It's needed for his line of work, as well as his life. And he can't say he isn't relieved when he gets back to the surface after a long time in the caves below his home.

He walks towards the air symbol, softly headbutting it.
