The way Akashi held himself in public. The little tilts of his head, the playful charming smile. People loved him. That was the whole point of the act, wasn’t it? But was it an act…? With…him? Kieran leaned his head into his hands, watching as Akashi got their drinks and even managed to get the barista’s phone number. Kie rolled his eyes turning away to look outside. Yeah…it was definitely just an act he did for everyone. And Akashi seemed so…perfect. He was a slayer, he was charming, he was funny. What more could Kie ask for?

“I flirted my way into getting you a muffin, Pumpkin~” Akashi chimed with that cute little head tilt of his. Kie turned back to have a small bag placed in his hands. The bag had the barista’s number on it with a small ‘call me’. Kie snickered rolling his eyes.

“Wow did you save her number yet?”

“I’m not interested in her. I just wanted a free muffin for you.”

“Since when were you cheap?”

Akashi slid in the chair across from him with that dumb little smile of his, “Awww I’m not cheap! Only for my darling dearest Pumpkin!” gods he’s annoying. Kie clicked his tongue before sipping his drink. He told Akashi to mix it up for him. Pumpkin spice something… Weird. He said it was seasonal and all the girls liked it. Kie internally laughed to himself. Was he one of the girls now? Just one of the girls… He pulled his legs into the chair to sit cross-legged.

“Akashi why did you invite me here?”

“Hm?” Akashi hummed in the middle of trying his own drink. Judging by his thoughts he didn’t actually like whatever he ordered. Some fancy cutesy latte. Kie’s bright pink eyes narrowed slightly as Akashi took his time responding. He often found it hard to read the other’s thoughts. Which was why he found Akashi interesting in the first place. He was an enigma. Kie’s magic didn’t always work on him. So he had to wait and listen. He had to pry for answers that were typically given to him without a second thought. And honestly…Kie liked a little mystery in his life. “What you don’t like coffee dates anymore? Only want to see me on the battlefield hm?” He reached across the table finger wiping the corner of Kie’s lips before returning to his own. “You’re a messy drinker,” Akashi whispered with a dumb little wink before licking his finger clean.

“You’re disgusting,” Kie mumbled but Akashi only returned that with another smile. So fake. Did he ever really smile. Was anything this guy did real? Why was Kieran here? What did he expect from this? His hands tapped the glass, hair brushing over his eyes as he thought. He wanted something and he had for quite a long time. He already knew Akashi would end this ‘date’ back at his place dragging Kieran to bed. But what if he wanted more than that for once? What if he wanted the other side too. Akashi was his friend but what stopped him from going farther? “Hey, Akashi you’re single right?” Kie asked eyes not leaving the glass in front of him. Akashi slowly nodded, eyes resting on Kieran.

There was no way that Kie had fallen for him? Kie often made it clear they were nothing more than friends and he had no interest in being with someone that would drop him in a week. But the words that left Kieran’s mouth after that had him speechless.

‘Would you be open to dating me?’

Everything after that trailed off. Akashi’s eyes never left Kie’s holding his gaze for what seemed like an eternity as he weighed all his options. He didn’t consider what he might look like to Kieran while doing such. Kieran narrowed his eyes half holding his breath as he waited for an answer. A simple no was fine but gods why was he still smiling?? It wasn’t even a real smile! So annoying. Akashi is such a brat. Why did he ask him out again? Dating him is a terrible idea! Not like he was going to say yes…probably. Did Kie even want him to say yes?? Yeah of course he did. Akashi was his first in everything. Akashi was his first friend, first kiss, first… wow. Kie tried to focus on Akashi, struggling to read any of his thoughts. Just a fake smile and unblinking eyes. Creepy. Was he about to be stabbed? Ah was this the trap that all those girls fall into? The smile and sweet words but the moment some commitment is mentioned Akashi stabs them in their sleep. Was Kie about to be stabbed in his sleep? Was this it? ha- Kie’s eyes lowered and he started to open his mouth to tell him to forget it before Akashi interjected.

“Hmm….Alright-”

“You are such a jerk! If it weren’t for the laws of this universe I would’ve strangled you for taking so long to answer! I’m like such a prize Akashi like you shouldn’t even have to think about it Hmph.” Kie huffed in return. But honestly, behind that exterior he was ecstatic. This was his first boyfriend! He could scream. Like a happy scream. But they are in public. Probably shouldn’t scream.

“Ooo kinky. Such a prize…dating a cultist that enjoys killing people…But you’re right. You’re still the hottest slayer I know.” Akashi whispered offering a hand to the shiri across the table, “Love ya too, Pumpkin.”

Kie took his hand with a quiet sigh. He smiled to himself squeezing it before looking away again., one of his hands half-covering his mouth to hide his smile, “love you Akashi”
