Shiro woke up from a soft and wonderful slumber, the lingering smell of a cool lake in the spring and the wet smell of dew in the morning lingering in his nose as his eyes began to slowly blink awake. His dream was sweet, his lovely wife happily sitting on the edge of the boardwalk on the lake as he approached and sat beside her. His mind was still slightly asleep but he remembered her words as a clear day and the longing in her eyes as she spoke to him in that soft warm tone he loved.

“I’m so happy we’re here, together, for the rest of our lives. We’ll make it worthwhile, won’t we love?”

Sitting up from his bed, he notices that Mei has gotten up before he had (nothing out of the normal) as her natural sweet scent still lingered on the sheets, swinging his legs over the side of the bed to finally get himself up. Waddling over to the bathroom without a care in the world, he decided to freshen himself a bit before going off to find his beloved. He spent a few minutes brushing his hair and making himself as simply presentable as one can with little effort. As he stepped out of his room, the first thing that caught his attention was the faint sound of classical music. Surprisingly, it was one of his favorite pieces as well, and only made him more and more curious as he headed in the direction of where it was coming from.

As he reaches the door, he creaks it open to see his wife pouring her heart out on the practice dancing floor. Her feet slid gracefully against the floor with such beauty and pride that he felt like he was entranced by her dancing. It seemed she hadn’t noticed him just yet but he didn’t mind, watching her focus and move like silk in a cool breeze. He watches the rest of her performance in silence until she finishes her dance with a light landing, making himself known with a light clap in her direction as she turns her head with a smile and brings her close.

“Shiro! When did you get here?”

“A little bit ago, you looked so beautiful when you’re focused.”

He laughs gently at her cute reaction, her hands cupping his cheeks as his face flushes gently at her gentle cheek kisses. She always gave the best kisses, he knows this from the bottom of his heart as she pulls his hair behind his ear to reveal his pink ears. Retirement was nice, being away from everyone but family, and his family always seemed to make his days even more bright than he’d ever thought.

“Would you like breakfast?”

“Glady, dearest.”
