A long time ago, further back than any living being could remember, the planets were linked by portals. Over time, these portals were forgotten, and their magic was lost, some thought for good. But sometimes, we can see glimpses of them in old books, dusty mirrors, and clear ponds.

One day, amidst the bustle of a city very much like your own, a mysterious shop appeared. It seems to have been built overnight on a patch of overgrown land. And no one pays it much heed.

The shop is a small, Oriental-style building, and doesn't look all that special. Tendrils of smoke spirals from the open sliding door, and the lobby is crammed full of bizarre antiques. A tiny door leads to the back of the shop, but is always firmly shut.

An old book lies on the dusty counter, nestled between a cash-register that looks like it has never been used and an empty bird cage. The pages are yellowing with age, but something seems a little off...

Upon closer inspection, mountains and rivers could be seen, but unlike a normal picture book, the geography is not flat, but rather, a perfect recreation of some fantasy landscape in miniature; with fluffy clouds, sparkling streams, and floating islands that hover just above the book. Glowing letters can be seen on other pages, and although the language is something that's definitely out of this world, a voice seems to appear in your mind, reading them out to you.
