Claws in combat

Fighter chowlings their claws are like weapon attached to their body, their claw is used commonly in combat and there are many fighting techniques that can be executed by using this claw. It can extend and retract at a chowlings own will and whatever is convenient for them in the moment, the claws go all the way back to their knuckles when retracted and can be as long as 30 CM when extended, thickness and shape also varies per chowling. Fighter claws are extremely durable and have a similar build as a knife or sword, they need to be taken care of accordingly otherwise they might get dull, this is why fighter claws are never used for heavy duty work as it can cause them to crack or become dull/ thin overtime. When sparring, chowlings wear claw caps to avoid genuinely hurting their opponent as these claws are razor sharp and can inflict serious harm, these claw caps can also be worn in different occasions to protect others from getting harmed. Whilst all fighter chowlings have an assigned hand crafted weapon, their claws will ALWAYS be their best weapon as it’s an extension of their body, its encouraged for combat oriented fighters to learn how to use these claws in combat.

Martial arts and masks

Chowlings have their own spirit oriented martial arts, this revolves around the mask that they wear and what it symbolises. Fighter chowlings are very in touch with specifically animals, learning and observing how they move in combat. Chowlings are often inspired by their assigned animal mask and their way of combat, they commonly practice this specific way of martial arts while wearing their mask too, a chowling with a snake mask will be sneaky stealthy in their moves, a lion mask will be confident and psychical, a crane mask would be elegant and balance and a pig mask would rely on keeping their defences up. This form of combat is often called “masked warrior” which really shows the purpose of their masks as well.

The fighter lineage and crime

Fighters are powerful brave warriors, however, these powers are often abused and mistreated by certain individuals for power and wealth. The fighter lineage is a very desired bloodline specifically in gangs as they are powerful and more combat oriented than most other chowlings, they are manipulated and lured into gangs for this strength. While it’s not super common it does happen quite a bit, which is where the common practice nail clipping came from. Fighters that get caught up with enemy gangs or just individuals often get their nails clipped off, this is a painful procedure which involves a fighters nail(s) being removed with a plier, causing them to be unable to grow back. This practice is often used as a warning for other gangs or enemies to make a statement, unfortunately for the fighter victims it takes weeks to fully recover from this and nails will never ever grow back, the nails that get stolen are carved into little figures or get turned into jewellery depending on the gang or enemy. While fighters are often abused by criminal culture, they are not endangered by it unless they engage with it.
