Even if sea terrors have a common birthplace, Dreadnauts are everywhere around the globe and their features are extremely diverse no matter the rarity, but every dreadnaut always has something in common with eachother to recognize their kin much better! Currently, Dreadnauts come in three rarities.

  • Common — The most prominent type of Dreadnaut, they possess smaller sea terrors and less noticeable features. These ones blend in almost perfectly in a humanoid crowd. They can only have human skintones.
  • Decayed — A trait set less seen among Dreadnauts. Just as the name suggests, these are sea terrors whose shells have started to decay due to time, environment, etc. and have started exhibiting irregular features. They are rare cases, but when you spot them, they stand out like a sore thumb. These individuals may have larger sea terrors, and some may be more hostile than the last. Their skintones can now be non-human. This rarity allows crossbreed.
  • Anomaly — A trait so rare, it's hard to determine the origins of their sea terrors. Just as the name suggests, their appearances are anomalous and scientists have a hard time tracing their origins. (Event/GA exclusive traits/rarity. Can bypass certain design rules.)

✦ MIMICS

Mimics are essentially how Dreadnauts are identified in the world. These mimics usually appear out of what we call 'spots' which are essentially used by the sea terror as a breathing or peeking space. Every Dreadnaut is required to have at least two mimics on their head. The mimics are expected to copy at least 70% of the silhouette. The species you choose for the mimic type is untraited, but it must be a marine animal.

Sea Terrors utilize these mimics in nature to decieve unsuspecting victims. If a random organism takes the bait, the sea terror captures them by any means and devours them. Although every sea terror's behavior may vary.

The amount of mimics a Dreadnaut can possess also depends on the rarity and size of the sea terror. As the name suggests, mimics always copy the silhouette of an existing animal trait—they want to blend in as much as possible. (when referring to mimic types, it refers to sea creature the mimic is imitating. written as [sea creature name × imitated animal]. Traits can be mixed and matched.)

  • Common — Common dreadnauts can only possess a pair of mimics in place of humanoid/kemonomimi mammalian ears, mimic in place of the tail. Their mimic type can be up to two species of animals. Their ears must look identical. The 'tail' can be a different shell type from the 'ears'.

    More on Common Mimic traits:
    • Animal — The mimic is copying an animal trait. (e.g. animal ears, horns, tail, wings. Extinct animals are allowed. Mythical animals are not allowed.)
    • Hairstyle — The mimic is disguised as a hairstyle.


    All-Common Mutation traits — These are only available if your Dreadnaut has all common traits.
    • Fishbone — A subcategory of hardshell, the mimic is not an animal but a fish bone. This only applies to exposed fishbone or fishbone on top of mimics.
    • Bioluminescense — The dreadnaut presents glowing elements on the mimic.
    • Globsters — The mimic looks like a carcass of a dead fish.


  • Decayed — Dreadnauts with this rarity can now possess mismatched softshell/hardshell hybrids. They can also have more than one type of animal species as mimic. They can now disguise themselves as objects, other body parts, and can now be detached from the sea terror if it wishes.

    More on Decayed Mimic traits:
    • Prosthetic — The dreadnaut has lost a limb and the sea terror is disguising itself as the dreadnaut's new limb.
    • Fillet — The sea terror's mimic has exposed meat parts or is made out of meat. Can only be made out of seafood meat.
    • Overgrowth — The dreadnaut has been overgrown with certain marine life. Barnacles/Moss/Seagrass/Coral/Etc
    • Translucent/Ghost — The mimic's insides can somewhat be seen. They can sometimes have bones, pearls, or other objects visible in them.
    • Object — The mimic is copying the look of a man-made object.
    • Irregular — The mimic possesses human eyes, teeth or other irregularities that should normally not be on a sea creature. This also accounts for hybrids + mimics that do not follow normal silhouettes.
    • Non-Mammal — The mimic is now imitating a non-mammalian animal.

    ✦ MIMIC: SHELL TYPE

    The shell type pertains to mainly the shell type of the mimics. Commons can only possess softshells or hardshells, while Decayed can possess both shell types as mismatched and/or mixed. It is also possible for hardshells to appear elsewhere on the body.

    Softshells can be any sea creature without an exterior shell. Creatures with 'interior shells' are still considered softshells. (e.g. fish, sea slugs, jellyfish, etc.)
    Hardshells can be sea creatures that have exterior shells. (e.g. mollusks, clams, crustaceans, etc.)
    Mixed is a shell type that can be described as being both hardshell and softshell, or anything outside of the common dreadnaut norm. (Exclusive to Decayed rarity.)

✦ SPOTS

"Spots" are essentially the breathing or peeking holes of the sea terror. These are also where the mimics can be found.

  • Common — Dreadnauts can only have up to four of these spots, with two being required to be placed on the head, and two on the backside.
  • Decayed — Dreadnauts with the Decayed rarity can now have more than four spots, and can appear anywhere on the body. They are still required to have at least two on the head. Spot locations that are too long/uncountable to name can be shortened down to 'Variety'.

✦ SEA TERROR

Sea terrors are what control the Dreadnaut. They cannot survive outside the shell, and can change sizes when left soaked in saltwater. They can be differentiated by their maximum size, and amount of sea terrors. They vary in shapes and sizes.

  • Common
    • Single — Only one sea terror inhabits.
    • Micro-colony — Uncountable microscopic organisms inhabit the dreadnaut, usually all work as a group to make the naut move. They can bunch together to create a bigger version of themselves, usually becoming the mimic of the Dreadnaut.

  • Decayed
    • Twin — Two sea terrors inhabit the dreadnaut, can be similar/matching or both different. Some twins can control the dreadnaut fine, but some have conflicting decisions from one another.
    • Frankenstein — Multiple sea terrors are stitched together. This can sometimes appear on the mimic.
    • Colony — Regular-sized sea terrors (non-microscopic) stuffed in one suit. This can result in the individual having different voices talking at once due to the amount of sea terrors.

✦ PEARLS

These pearls are the reason as to why Dreadnauts can sometimes end up in bad situations, as some of them have been farmed for their highly sought-out pearls that are much bigger than regular clam/oyster pearls. These pearls can be of any color.

In the marine ecosystem, these pearls are utilized by the sea terror as bait. The reason these mimics hold/produce pearls is to lure in unsuspecting victims as they hide under the sand, eventually lunging at anything that gets too close to the bait.

  • Common — Common Dreadnauts can only possess one pair of round 'Pearls' on each head mimic. The common variety can possess at least 2 pearls and 3 at most—with one pair that is required to be on their head.
  • Decayed — Dreadnauts of the Decayed variety can now possess more than one pair of 'Pearls' on their mimics. These pearls can now present themselves as different basic shapes as well. They are still expected to have at least 1 pair on their head.

✦ UNTRAITED: VISUAL APPEARANCE

  • The Dreadnaut — Sea terrors are not picky and thus form their disguises/shells from anything they see. This means the humanoid design can have animal features (animal hooves, paws, etc.) if you wish. Face must stay humanoid. Features such as pupil shapes and sclera colors are also untraited.
  • The Sea Terror — Sea Terror appearances are untraited, but must have the Dreadnaut's mimics be incorporated/visible. Creative freedom is allowed when interpreting the shape and form of the creature.

✦ SPECIAL: ANOMALIES

These are special traits only obtainable through very few means, so be on the lookout when you encounter one—They only appear in certain seasons! Traits listed below have been documented as past Anomaly traits. After an event ends, the featured trait will be added to this list and the date they were released will also be written down. Although they are rare, chances of them coming back or appearing randomly are thin but never zero. Please note that Anomalies are not CB-compatible, as decayed CBs are allowed to possess ‘illegal traits’ if it is listed under the other species’ traits.

  • Levitation[May 2022] The Dreadnaut's mimics are detached from the body, and are permanently levitating around the sea terror's vessel.
  • Elemental[September 2022] The Dreadnaut possesses distinctive traits that fall under the 'elemental' category. These elements are flexible and can be applied to any required trait on the naut. (Sea terror, mimics, even pearls.) Elements like ice, fire, lightning all fall under this trait; but that's not all, elements such as land/non-sea plant growth, metal/mineral growth, and many more can fall under this category as long as they are organic and not man-made.
  • Wax Casing[October 2023] A protective casing that covers a sea terrors body, the color of the wax can be any color imaginable. Wicks may be included as a cosmetic that can be lit and produce a flame of a varying degree of colors depending on what makes up the sea terrors outer layer. The most common color is a soft orange yellow, but can come in many flame colors.
  • Candy Bones[October 2023] Candy Bones replace a sea terrors bones with a new set of candy like ones. These bones can appear as a regular sea creatures bones or as a typical bone shaped candy you'd find in stores, both consist of ranging in a wide variety of colors from rainbow to monochrome and even patterns. Very similar to fishbone, only exception is that it can be used on all rarities and bones are never white.
  • Candy Pearls[October 2023] A unique version of the pearls that appear on a dreadnaut. Unlike regular pearls that can only be a solid main color, candy pearls are able to come in all shapes and sizes, and even able to have unique and complex patterns with the colors. Possess an unusually sweet nectar-like taste, but overall inedible. Can have adverse effects on the individual if consumed; such as paralysis, skin rashes, loss of taste, and so on.
  • TBA — TBA



✦ IMPORTANT: GUIDELINES AND REMINDERS

  • Making a MYO with the intent to create an "offbrand" of any other species is not allowed.
  • Only human skintones are allowed for common. Non-human skintones can only be attained if you have a decayed slot or trait upgrade.
  • You need 3 decayed traits to have your naut be considered 'decayed' rarity, while you only need 1 anomaly trait to be considered 'anomaly'.
  • While visual appearances are untraited, faces must stay humanoid. No long-snout nor flat-faced anthros since the species is mainly humanoid.
  • Please keep every design original. This means you are not allowed to make a Dreadnaut based off an existing series or franchise, you are not allowed to copy other people's designs as well unless given explicit permission. OC AUs are okay.
  • Any physical object that is not a mimic is considered untraited. This includes (but is not limited to) man-made prosthetics, any type of accessory, and others.
  • Each Dreadnaut is required to at least have two mimics with a pair of pearls on their head, this is to retain a uniform identity among the species.
  • Dreadnauts are an aquatic/sea-based closed species, so the mimics' animal should resemble an aquatic lifeform, but mimicking the shape of a non-aquatic animal.
  • Traited parts of the Dreadnaut can only be 40% edited at most. This includes slight but not drastic color changes, spot placement tweaks, pearl size/shape, etc. (shape only applies if the Dreadnaut initially had non-circular pearls.)
  • The item Zeke’s Supplies can be used to surpass the usual redesign guidelines. Listed below are the possible changes you can do with Zeke’s Supplies:

    CAN DO

    • Drastic color/pattern changes
    • Shift spot placements freely
    • Change pearl shapes (Can downgrade to circular if shaped intially)

    • Downgrade a trait
