Ignii Traits

Visual Trait Guide:

Ignii know where true power lies. In their ancient past, they scaled the Coronus mountains to seek out the home of the Mother of Dragons. They worshiped at her feet, and her blessing unto them was baptismal fires, scorching away flesh and bone to birth them anew. In her name, they became exalted warriors and joyous hedons, ever striving to become better, better, better, until they too can hold the very heavens in their hands and savor its fruits.

Base Anatomy:

  • (Leave space for a full body of the mascot)
  • Hands and feet are scaled for protection while digging/climbing, scales are diamond tough and fireproof, ignii are excellent climbers and diggers
  • Feet: plantigrade or digitigrade, typically clawed but rarely gecko pads, always 4 toes but they show up in various arrangements. Feet and hands sometimes have paw pads.
  • Scales have varied textures: small, large, square, banded, pebbled, and more. These are just some examples.
  • Natural skintones, but markings on scales can be anything.
  • Tails (when present) can also be varied in shape and texture. Must be reptilian, heres just a few options!
  • Handlike wings are very muscular with padding on the "palm" and "fingertips". Primarily, wings assist in climbing to help grip rock, particularly when ledges are small, but they also enable gliding for long distances. Padding or "wingbeans" on palm and "fingertips" help provide texture and grip when climbing.
  • Optionally: bat noses, snake tongues, and fangs! These are only some examples.
Traits:
  • Body spikes: Straight spikes (common), keratin ridges (uncommon), curved (rare)
    • Spikes can be placed anywhere on the head/body, no limit to number. Optional trait, you don't have to have them.
    • Can NOT be split (antler-like), spiral or curl (ram-like), be ridged. Smooth texture only. NOT mammalian horns.
  • Tails: None (common), nubby (uncommon), full (rare)
    • Ignii often drop their tails fully or partially while roughhousing or adventuring as children. It doesn't hurt; it's a common rite of passage. Ignii with full tails are often thought of as more reserved, or less fearsome in combat.
    • The base of the back or the tail nub sometimes has a star-shaped scar from where the detachment happened.
  • Eyes: slit/diamond (common), side-slit/triangle (uncommon), solid/faceted (rare)
  • Ears: pointed (common), bat (uncommon), extra large (pointed or bat) (rare)
    • Ignii with rare ears tend to avoid city centers due to sound sensitivity
    • Any species for bat ears, these are just some examples
    • Move with emotions
  • Scale coverage: minimum (black), common (red), uncommon (yellow), skin (rare), never allowed (white)

Written Trait Guide:

Common:

  • Star- or W-shaped pupils
  • Rounded fins: an overall smooth, round shape
  • Wavy fins: the edges of the fin dip between the rays, creating a wavy appearance
  • Symmetrical tail: the top and bottom fins on the tail have matching shapes
  • Freckle lumens: Small, dot-shaped lumens
  • Spot lumens: Bigger lumens that are still circular, often overlap for dense patches
Uncommon:
  • String-of-pearl- or ray-shaped pupils
  • Spiked fins: Firmer rays and less fin create a sharp, pointed appearance
  • Ruffled fins: There is more fin between each ray than typical, creating a wide, ruffled look
  • Asymmetrical tail: the top of the tail's fin is a different shape from the bottom
  • Ring: Akin to spot lumens, except the center of each circle is not filled
  • Star lumens: The lumens are not round and have pointed edges, resembling starbursts
Rare:
  • Bar- or heart-shaped pupils
  • Lionfish: Each ray, with its portion of the fin, is separate, creating individual spines. (Ianthina with this trait are toxic.)
  • Long fins: Fins are much longer than typical.
  • Unique tail: Any tail shape that doesn't follow the above parameters. This includes, but is not limited to: extra long, extra short, and bifurcated (top and bottom do not meet, exposing the tail tip) tails.
  • Constellation lumens: Akin to freckled lumens, but lines connect the dots to each other
  • Striped lumens: Lumens are stripes.
Untraited:
  • Skin color (check here for permitted patterns)
  • Fin colors/patterns (no restrictions)
  • Eye color (sclera must be black)
  • Hair color
  • Tail fin shapes
Extra Notes:
  • Tail must have a solid, flesh center with transparent fins on the top/bottom
  • Must have fangs and claws
  • Must have gills on neck
  • Must have webbed hands and feet
  • Antennae must sprout from forehead
  • Mixing and matching of fin types is allowed.
