A thousand years ago, the world ended. The Cataclysm covered the planet of Empyria in a thick layer of volatile magic energy, warping the land and creating terrible monsters. Humanity survived by harnessing this new magic for their own purposes, and used it to create new technologies to replace the forgotten old ones.
It is now 999 A.C., and things have settled into a comfortable new 'normal'. But behind the cheerful scenes of the upcoming millenium celebrations, certain sinister plans that have been brewing for centuries are finally being set into motion...
Empyria is a modern(ish) post-apocalyptic fantasy world by squidknees. It is an ongoing attempt to capture the goofy yet earnest vibes of those janky mid-00s JRPGs with way too much lore.
