THE ANATOMY OF A TAKEMON

trait6_by_traditionalbelle_dgih9x1-pre.p

Takemon are a mostly human-like species with a few required traits. All Takemon must have:

  • A humanoid face and body structure
  • One set of horns and one set of ears
  • One set of arms and one set of legs
  • One devil tail (land form)
  • At least one tentacle hair and tentacle tail (water form)
  • One companion

Takemon are bonded to their companion from the moment they leave their bottle, and do not ever "switch" companions during their lifetime. Currently, they can only have one set of main traits, and cannot have multiple sets of ears, horns, arms, legs, or devil tails.

Takemon have two forms, a "land" form and a "water" form. In either form, their skin or other physical traits can be goopy or drippy in appearance, but does not have to be. Their tentacles are only visible in their water form when they are partially or fully submerged in water.

FACE / EARS

COMMON EARS

"Octopus ears" are round in shape and small, often sitting on the top or sides of the head. A good real-life example of this are the dumbo octopus' "ears".

RARE EARS

Rare ears consist of any ears that other real-life animals have. This can include cat/dog ears, floppy ears, bug antennae, etc.

LEGENDARY EARS

Legendary ears include: long, pointy ears (often referred to as "elf ears"), wing ears or ears resembling wings, elemental ears (ears that are wispy or change shape freely, like fire or water), and fin ears. Elemental ears can also be metallic or crystallized. Takemon with tentacles in place of their ears (appearing to have no ears) is also legendary.

OTHER FACE TRAITS

BLACKOUT FACE

Takemon with this trait are often missing one or more of their main facial features, which can include eyes, nose, and/or mouth, and have a majority of their face covered in a dark shadow.

MULTIPLE EYES

Takemon with this trait have more than two eyes on their face. There is currently not a limit to how many eyes one Takemon can have on their face.

HALO

Takemon with this trait have a halo over their head. Halos can also be placed on/around other parts of the body. A Takemon can have multiple halos.

GILLS

Takemon with this trait have gills on their neck or other parts of their body.

HORNS

trait4_by_traditionalbelle_dgih9wf-pre.j

COMMON HORNS

ALL horns are common horns, as long as there are two of them. There is no limit to size or style of horn currently. Common horns must be of a solid matte texture, and can either be clearly separated from the face/hair or appear to be connected to the face/hair.

RARE HORNS

The only thing that distinguishes common horns from rare horns are the number of horns. A takemon with a rare horn will only have one horn instead of two. A rare horn must be of a solid matte texture.

LEGENDARY HORNS

A Takemon with legendary horns can have either one or two horns. These horns are considered "elemental", are are often wispy or change shape freely, like fire or water. Elemental horns can also be slimy and dripping in appearance, without needing to hold a solid consistent shape. Elemental horns can also be metallic or crystallized, and appear shinier than regular horns. Takemon with legendary horns can also retract these horns, making it appear as if they do not have any horns.

TAILS (LAND + WATER)

Takemon have tails in both their land form and their water form. In their land form, Takemon have one devil tail that can have a variety of physical traits. In their water form, Takemon have one or more tentacle tails that can also have a variety of physical traits.

LAND (DEVIL) TAILS

A Takemon can only have one devil tail. This tail is typically sleek or furry and can be thin or thick, with a clear pointed "tip" on the end of the tail that can be a variety of different shapes. Some land form specific traits include:

FLUFFY/FURRY TEXTURE - COMMON

Devil tails can be covered in fur that can be any length or texture. A tail can be partially fluffy and partially another texture, or all one texture. Tentacle tails cannot have this texture.

WATER (TENTACLE) TAILS

When partially or fully submerged in water, a Takemon's devil tail turns into one or more tentacle tails. The number of tentacle tails a Takemon can have depends on their rarity, and matches the number of tentacle tails a Takemon can have which is detailed below in the 'Tentacles' section. Some water form specific traits include:

SUCKERS - COMMON

Most Takemon tentacles have one or more suckers, usually lining the inside or bottom of the tentacle. These suckers can be a variety of shapes and sizes.

Takemon can have a variety of extra physical traits, which can be applied to their devil tail, tentacle tails, and tentacle hairs. These traits are explained in further detail in the 'Tentacles' section.

TENTACLES

In a Takemon's water form, parts of their hair and their devil tail morph into tentacles. These tentacles can share physical traits with a Takemon's devil tail, and there can be multiples of them both in hair and as tails.

TENTACLE COUNT

A Takemon's number of tentacle hairs and tentacle tails are a good indication of the rarity of a Takemon. Having 1-2 tentacle hairs and/or tails is a common trait, having 2-4 tentacle hairs and/or tails is an uncommon trait, and having 5 or more tentacle hairs and/or tails is a legendary trait. A Takemon can have differing rarities between their tentacle hairs and tentacle tails (ex. a Takemon can have 2 tentacle tails and 5 tentacle hairs).

EXTRA PHYSICAL TRAITS

Many Takemon exhibit extra physical traits on their tentacles and devil tails. These traits have their own rarities, and can appear either alone or in combination with other extra physical traits. These physical traits include:

SPIKES - RARE

Takemon can have spikes protruding from their tails and/or hair tentacles. These spikes must be a matte texture, and must hold a solid shape that does not morph or change. These spikes can either appear to be the same material as the tentacle/devil tail or a different texture, but if they are elemental, metallic, or crystallized, this becomes a legendary trait.

FINS - RARE

Takemon with this trait have aquatic fins that protrude from their tails and/or tentacle hairs. These fins can be a variety of shapes and sizes, and can take the appearance of more traditional fish fins or shark fins, to name a few. The fins must be clearly connected to the tails/hairs, and cannot resemble fin ears.

MECHANICAL - RARE

Takemon with this trait have their tentacles/tails completely replaced with a mechanical version of them. This mechanical version must still clearly represent the shape of the tentacle/tail, and any other mechanized traits also fall under their respective rarity.

WINGS - LEGENDARY

Takemon with this trait can have wings on their tails and/or tentacle hairs. This trait must be clearly connected to the tails/hairs, and cannot resemble wing ears. These wings must fit the size requirements of the small wings trait, and there can be any number of them on any given appendage.

EYES - LEGENDARY

Takemon with this trait gain extra eyes along their tentacles/tails. These eyes can also replace the suckers on a tentacle.

OTHER TRAITS

dgih9x7-cb739fdf-e0e8-4a51-9b4d-5f118b36

Takemon can also have other traits that do not fall under any of these specific categories. These traits vary greatly in effects and placement, and are generally rarer than other traits.

BIOLUMINESCENCE - RARE

Bioluminescent Takemon have parts of their body that can glow in dimly lit areas. They can turn this trait on and off at will, and their bioluminescence does not have to be clearly marked on their body when inactive. This trait can affect the skin, hair, eyes, tentacles, or other physical traits.

ANIMALISTIC LIMBS - LEGENDARY

Takemon with this trait have the bottom half of their arms and/or legs replaced with animalistic limbs. This trait can affect from the joint (knee/elbow) down (to the hands/feet), but must at least affect the hands/feet. Typically, Takemon with this trait have fur on their affected parts, and their extremities are replaced with mammalian feet such as paws or hooves. This trait does not allow for merman/centaur traits. In extremely rare cases, this trait can affect the entire arm/leg, and can also manifest itself as a wing instead of a mammalian limb.
