Aterius are the purgatory's worker, creatd by the purgatory's god. They work in many different fields but tends to be busy to keep in order the world and prevent celestial wars. They usually aren't aggressive and don't kill, using their blades in a defensive dance, using their poisonous fluid -some kind of blood replacement- as paralysis poison that cures with time and magic to imprison the corrupted souls.
They also have no will to take control of the world, their only role is the world's stability and they will only fight to prevent paradise, hell or any powerful mystical strenght to rule on everything.

Some work in the fights, some other in the Reincarnation office - where they send the souls to their new lifes -, as Grim Reapers and Fossoyeurs - to bring back souls to the Reincarnation office - or have common jobs like humans. They can also be given a master or leave the purgatory to have the life they choose outside.
For that, they were given blade as tail and magic. Their rarity increase as well as their ability to use magic, making the common unable to use it, uncommon able if they're helped by artifacts and rare can use it without any restriction.

The size of the tail also increase with their rarity, not being the case for all of them but rare ones tends to have bigger blade.
The Aterius having the biggest blades will have roles such as general or war for huge axes, while small blades will have life easier as assassin.
Note that they won't die by growing older but they still can be killed!
