The Severed Sanctuary

A story taking place just after the turn of a new era in which, in order to save their planet from chaos and imbalance, the gods severed their connection to the material plane.

Though still in the early stages of adapting to this change, most mortals are contented with their lives. However, others have grown bored of the tranquility and seek godlike power, the very thing that led the planet to ruin mere centuries ago. For the first time in its recent history, the Severed Sanctuary faces mysterious and unprecedented threats to its security and the fabric of its reality. Several different groups of adventurers, like the Safety in Numbers adventuring party and the Mercenary Volunteer Union, set out to keep the peace of their new world.

The Severed Sanctuary is my years in the making homebrewed D&D world heavily based on existing D&D lore as well as the Mythic Odysseys of Theros sourcebook so it's basically just D&D but I changed parts that I didn't like or care about. A lot of it (particularly species, gameplay mechanics, and gods) is not completely original by any means, sorry!

I have two prominent stories set in the Severed Sanctuary, one being Safety in Numbers, a story about a small group of unlikely companions each on separate but ultimately converging quests, and the other being a full playable campaign where the players take the role of full-time employees at the Mercenary Volunteer Union. Characters from each story are included in this world as they take place at/around the same time in the timeline of this universe.
