WhaleWings of deep sea and tropical share similar cultures with slight differences to suit their environments and builds/abilities.
Similarities:
-They both believe in peace and strive to avoid conflict, after the War with the SeaWings nearly 300 years in the past (that wiped out over half the population of both variants) and majority choose peace over conflict any day, though some Whales regardless of Variant may try violence as a way out last resort, as conflict/violence is a punishable offence in the eyes of both variants.
-Both species are ruled by one ruler that is decided in a contest (similar to that of RainWings), the royals from the Tropical and the Deep Sea compete in skill selected tests, whoever has the most points in the end rules, this contest is held every 50 or so years, rarely with the same ruler but it has happened. As it happens when the previous rulers step down or pass on and their heir/s challenge each other to see who will rule till they either step down or die. Currently they are ruled by King Shade of the Deep Sea WhaleWings after ten years ago he won against the twin Tropical WhaleWings.
-They have a similar courting/marriage proceeding, where the pair collect trinkets like shells or rocks or coral from the area and make temporary jewelry out of them, and they gift each other these trinkets, and when the trinkets fall off or dissolve (depending on material) it represents how this affection will last on longer then anything. Whales also partner for life, so if a partner dies or disappears, the other will not repartner, with or without dragonets. Unless they are royalty with no heirs as heirs are vital for the kingdom, though relatives such as cousins or nieces/nephews or even siblings can take over if an accident occurs.
Deep Sea Variant of WhaleWings:
-Believe they were founded by a WhaleWing NightWing Hybrid from Millenia in the past that arrived to the seas and dug out the trenches for his descendant to live in, his name was believed to be ‘Quasar’ for his starry black wings, but no one is certain of his name.
-Deep Sea WhaleWings also do not hunt Whales in the ocean, as they are seen as sacred beasts who can create lovely songs similar to their own (they cannot speak/understand whale but can mimic sounds to get Whales attentions).
-They have a twice a year festival (the first day of the year and the last day) to celebrate the birth and death of their God Quasar, who supposedly was born at the start of the year, lived his life, and died on he last day of the year after creating their society.
Tropical Variant of WhaleWings:
-They believe they have a SkyWing Ancestor that created the coral reefs and WhaleWings in the deep sea sick of the darkness came up and grew more scales like the SkyWings and became more colourful to honour their work.
-Tropical WhaleWings have a fruit festival once a year to celebrate their SkyWing Ancestor.
