Both have a cold, scientific presence to their work, but where Silver is more professional Ifriel is more absorbed in the...mess of the work. He feels a satisfaction and revenge in the act of surgery. He's Cronenberg-ian.

The boy was a natural, but his temperament and rashness came with a cost. A deal was struck between the boy and a low-level celebrity, wherein he would replace the man's eyes with emeralds. The payment would be more than he could imagine. His master found out, and their deal was off; Silver would leave with clean hands, and Ifriel would sink into depravity deeper than ever imagined. The operation failed, and the boy left with a price on his head.

Silver lives in a defensive bubble, where best he can protect himself from the unknown; everything else is a benefit on the side.
