Lore

History

In the Heian era of Japan, demons roamed the land killing every living being they saw. There was little humanity could do. All they could do is give the title “Demon Slayers” to people who were able to kill demons. Even if they were able to kill, the slayers would be too injured or eventually give up fighting such monstrous beings. Eventually, demons have conquered almost ⅓ of the land. Soon by a messenger on horse, they were notified that demons were advancing to one of the biggest villages. Demon slayers in the area had gathered and devised a plan to kill some of the demons.

The plan backfired. The slayers were cornered into the bottom of a cliff with no way out. However during the battle, a loud screeching noise was made. Because of their sensitive ears, the demons screeched as their ears bled and were in pain. The demon slayers looked up to see a person and 2 floating creatures. The first animalistic creature had its mouth opened releasing the horrid sounds, while the other one just did nothing. As they continued examining the scene above them, they noticed it was a monk holding prayer beads.

“DON’T LET THE OPPORTUNITY GO TO WASTE!”, yelled the priest. The slayers focused their attention back to the demons and slayed them. Finally, the long battle was over, but the lingering question was in the back of their mind. “What was that creature. "They looked to their cliffs once more as the creatures carried the priest and started descending slowly. More details became apparent. It had a humanlike face but instead of flesh it was bronze. The creature on the right has clothes resembling more of a deer with a flower hair piece and floating sashes. However, the creature on the left had animal features resembling dog ears and a flat bronze tail. It had light pieces of clothing on.

They both reached the ground. And the monk finally spoke once more, “ You are all quite injured and must be in pain. Please listen to their song to relieve your worries and pain.” This time the human presenting creature opens its mouth. What came out was a famous folk song. Everyone’s stiff shoulders felt relieved and expressions turned happier. They never felt peace for such a long time. Everyone cheered and recalled old memories as they celebrated their victory. The two creatures smiled as they returned to their windchime form.

This is the story of how the monk created the first two Servox. As a devoted believer, God has bestowed the power to create Servox. With the knowledge and celestial energy, the priest made two windchimes. He prayed and prayed until one day they manifested human-like forms. However they only spoke in sounds.

The human presenting Servox sang an old folktale beautifully. It used his memories to invoke pleasant and happy emotions. He named them Concord. Meanwhile, the animal presenting Servox made a screeching noise of an animal that once attacked him in the forest. He named them Discord.

After saving the exorcists, he made more Servox and shared his knowledge before he eventually died and passed away. In the middle of each village, a designated windchime is held on its own shrine protecting the villagers. A special job called “_____” was made in order to produce more Servox and the maintenance to keep them polished.

It is also said that if you go near the cliff of the historic battle, you can hear a faint screeching and singing of an old folk song. Eventually, one day the villagers noticed it stopped ringing and went to investigate. At the bottom of the cliff where the priest's grave was, there was a small patch of grass and flowers. And hanging from the grave on each side, were two broken windchimes.

Modern World

Nowadays, Servox has become less needed and decreased in size. They are purely for entertainment or to protect the homes of old-fashioned believers. A famous example is the Servox celebrity Yohan, who travels the world by cruise and teaches the world about the history of his race. Or Concord Servox whose owner only take them out in the summer to listen to their pleasant sounds. For Servox who are the Discord type.... well lets just say they serve no purpose in this world. They have no enemies to defend humans from. Why are they needed? All they do is bring annoying and hurtful sounds into this world... I wonder where the rest of them went to....

"Hmm? The waves are pulling back into the ocean today. That's not a good sign. Looks like a tsunami is coming and heading this way."

Hello, your captain Yohan here ! Please feel free to use this as a base for your own stories but of course you are free to not use this lore ~
