《 Attributes 》

  LIST OF ATTRIBUTES
Attributes determine your strengths and weaknesses in combat, as well as the damage type of some attacks you are able to perform. They might reflect your character's abilities and origin, they might not — which attribute to choose is entirely up to you.

Equipment
In Trails of Parchment, you will find many different equipment pieces and weapons, some of which might have attribute marked on them. Your characters can equip anything. For example, Water character can wield a Fire sword and deal Fire damage with it. If the attribute marked on the equipment says "PC Attribute", it means that the attack damage will have the same attribute as the character performing it.

Combat
Combat is triggered when you initiate of join a boss fight. While in combat, you will perform attacks and suffer damage according to your and the bosses attributes, as explained below.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Some attributes interact with each other differently. Fire characters will receive double damage from Water attacks and only half from Earth. Meanwhile, attacks made with Fire attribute will deal double damage to Earth and half the damage to Water. This is why you might want to approach different bosses with different characters, as well as mix and match equipment, if you want to efficiently tackle their weaknesses.
Pets
Each of your character can have up to one active pet on them. While in combat, this pet will perform its attack on the same turn as you do, increasing your overall damage. Pets cannot be harmed or killed, but they won't be able to attack while your character is down.
Resistances and other bonuses
You might have equipment on you that grants your character resistance to certain attributes. This number will then be subtracted from the recieved damage any time you are attacked by that attribute. If you happen to be weaker or stronger than this attribute, the resistance bonus will be aplied after the initial calculation.
Example:
Fire character with +5 resistance to Water is damaged by a Water move. They are hit for 10 initial damage, which is then doubled due to their weakness to Water, and only then the resistance is applied.
 (10×2) - 5
Same goes for attack and special bonuses. So, if the Water move also had +2 special, the formula would look something like this:
 (10×2) - 5 + 2
