This is a setting, sort of. Fangasm is a fictitious website which these characters are a part of. Now, let's plug in some questions:

What kind of website is Fangasm?
I would compare it to the likes of OnlyFans and Twitch, maybe with a dash of social media. It is a platform for creators to moneytize their 18+ activity, with the ability to present it via streams, pre-recorded video, photo galleries, individual selfies, or whatever other way they want to express themselves. They also have the ability to make status posts that fans can interact with.
While not a rule within the setting, my personal rule is that every Fangasm creator has their specific hobby they advertise themselves with. There is just as much "What kind of streamer are they?" as there is "What kind of lewdness do they have on offer?"
Tonally, it's very much based on the way Vtubers work, with their spicier conversation and moments, except that's just what Fangasm is like at its most wholesome.

Can I join?
What, this group or an actual Fangasm site? No and no. It probably goes without saying, but Fangasm is basically just a made-up website that exists only within this setting. In all likelihood, a name like "Fangasm" has probably been (or eventually will be) used by an actual site or service, in which case I will take a moment to say that the content here does not represent them.

So are the characters actually virtual or...?
Actually, good question since I did make the Vtuber comparison. No. But let's talk about what the intentions are.
The characters exist in a standard modern setting with humans and anthropomorphic animals, just like anything I make characters for. The theme here is that all these characters are contributors to the site. They might have roommates who aren't associated with Fangasm, and thus may not have profiles. I think that adds a certain mystery - an anonymity to their personal lives.
The creators on Fangasm probably do know each other as well as Vtubers might know each other since they are part of the same source of income. Certain characters are very much intended to be friends, which may be mentioned on their profiles.
Because it's a website, I kind of have it so many of the characters live in different parts. Are they all US based like myself, or do they live in other countries? Who knows! It's their private life, after all.
