Kaoboos are creatures made of moon dust, a cosmic energy that took shape and, through exposure to external forces, gained sentience. These creatures live on the dark side of the Moon, overseeing people and ensuring that the human realm is filled with positivity! A defining characteristic of Kaoboos are their charms: one hung around their neck and the other tied to their tail. These charms are powered by the aforementioned moon dust, serving as both the source of their comforting magic and a key part of their existence.

Their neck charms act as portals, allowing them to travel between the Moon and Earth, while their tail charms amplify their magic, releasing a gentle, reassuring aroma. Kaoboos can choose to assist humans by soul linking with them, but are not required to do so! For those who do, those bonds are sacred, as they are the greatest display of the gratitude and love they carry, causing them to commmit to spreading positivity in the recipient’s life. It does not matter how troubled the person is, even if their worries are as small as stage fright, or as large as coping with the death of a loved one, a Kaoboo follows their heart when bonding with another. They can even spend decades travelling the world in search for the right person to bond with. Some will also travel the world without much care for bonding. Others never leave the Moon. Regardless of their choices, Kaoboo will always tread the path they wish to take.

What's special about them is the magic they draw from the cosmic energy and moon dust they are made of, with each having a signature smell to them! They use their magical abilities to aid those they bond with, both supportively and physically, as they also ward off “Worry Spirits.” Worry Spirits are another invisible creature. In contrast to Kaoboos they are non-sentient and are drawn to a being’s sense of discomfort. They will swarm and feed off this energy, especially those with “tastier” worries, but the presence of a Kaoboo repels them. This is because Kaoboos love to eat Worry Spirits! Like tasty treats, they slurp them up and prevent them from encouraging more misfortune to fall on the creatures they help.

However, if a Kaoboo eats too many Worry Spirits, their energy can become corrupted. This instability can eventually manifest as “Unstable Traits” and make a Kaoboo become a Demon variant. This type is extremely volatile, as they become a fusion of the two, with the instincts of the latter messing with Kaoboos as they begin to cause misfortune for those they meet.
