The Core

The universe where bamharrs live and this form of life originates from is named the 'Dark world'. The Dark world is a somewhat parallel universe to the modern Earth, but while they exist very close to each other, the Dark world has it's own rules. In the original state, the Dark world has no ability to maintain its own energies and create physical form. Bamharr researchers believe (as it is still speculation, no official answer has been given) that the origin of life in the Dark world lies in a cosmic accident that managed to make an impact on Earth and this prallel dark wasteland at the same time. What they know for sure is that some outside force left a special material in the Dark world, and it is what bamharrs call 'Crystals'.

Crystals are known to be a huge source of energy, and this energy creates a radius, a barrier around the crystal. In the Dark world, there is a special spot, a whole continent where crystals ended up appearing, may it be from space or of other origin. Today bamharrs call this habitable continent 'The Core', throughout the Core, there are crystals in bigger and smaller groups scattered around. Thanks to the energy the crystals produce, life started to flourish in the radius of this material. Since it seems like the flora and fauna of the Core is similar to what humans have on Earth, the researchers believe it all actually came from the later human inhabited planet.

Today, there are whole societies of bamharrs formed around these crystals, living under the barriers. Such territories are now called Hearts, they are similar to countries in the human world, however they are not based on nationality but on the location in the Core. With the help of the crystals and the strange energy, they managed to set up teleportets and those now function as a way to travel between the Hearts, plus Dark world and the Earth. While there are crystals scattered all around the Core/continent, only the Hearts can be inhabited. It is possible to leave the Hearts and move to such space around the rest of the continent and between the Hearts, a bamharr has to have strong crystals on them or posess the energy crystal form* so they can maintain the barrier around them and not be affected by the dark itself. Bamharrs cannot live in the dark area without crystal energy, however, there are different life forms that managed to do so. These are mainly floral creatures, vines and living trees that managed to connect to low energy crystals. There have been notes on animal life forms from outside as well, but the dark shaped them so much they can no longer be considered anything humans would know of. Creatures of any kind, that managed to somehow live outside the Hearts as strong barriers, are almost always hostile, due to their need to gain more energy in the dark wasteland. Bamharrs naturally stay away from that part of their world, the Hearts protect them from it all.
*Even if one has the energy crystal form, they will not be able to last infinitely in the dark.

The Hearts

Because of the differences in climate, size and discovery/founding of the Hearts, the bamharrs living in different Hearts are diverse too, not in biology but in their history, culture and traditions. In the past centuries bamharrs have tried their best to make a united union of the Hearts, and while the peace and alliance works fine between most, there will always be troublesome areas for one reason or another.

  • Every Heart consists of the main Crystal in a central area and a suburb around it, which is as big as the energy the crystal produces. There can be secondary crystals around as well that can hold up other, smaller territories around the main Heart. These smaller separated territories can be connected through weaker teleporters as well, as they still make the same Heart.
  • Bigger Hearts have the tendency to have a whole city built around the main crystal, which is usually the most populated area of a Heart for reasons of making a society, trading, etc. Usually, bigger Hearts can have more towns and cities founded under their barriers, just like a country. (The size of Hearts do resemble human country sizes)
  • Smaller Hearts or ones that don't have a strong or any central power might look much more scattered. Their bamharrs' way of living is usually different from the big ones as well.
While bamharrs now have the chance to travel between any of them more or less freely, Hearts still seem to have their own culture and specialities. These are things that were either taken from the human world, or from their own history and they managed to hold onto them. Below is a list of some of the Hearts 74509999_lb73DVMzTa8OUDU.png

Heart A

Designation: Heart A
Name: The Original Heart, The Heart, The Main Heart (although that name is seen by many other hearts to be offending)
Climate: Continental climate with four even seasons
Landscape/ Geography: Rich fields, forests, hills and mountains, huge plains and lots of untouched land
Points of Interest:

  • Heart A City or The Crystal City: The capital of Heart A and the biggest city of the Core. A huge metropolis, the city is a melting pot of all bamharr (and human) cultures and influences. It is well known for its thriving nightlife and business.

  • Kerub's Klub: A popular nightclub ran by the ambitious businesswoman Kerub. They throw huge parties at night and organize other events during the daytime.
  • Dawn Valley: A southern province of Heart A which is known for its purple and pink forests. The rivers that run here are often accompanied by old pink willows, giving the land its signature look.
Flora & Fauna: Very similar to the human world, animals ranging from domesticated to continental wildlife.
Economics: Sales sector, modern technology, crystal and teleporter sector; Agriculture and mining in the countryside
(Dominant) Culture:
  • Mixture of human and bamharr cultures
  • most populated and most modernized heart
  • most diverse heart in terms of fashion, architecture, ways of living, and bamharrs themselves
Political Structure(1): Democracy, council members are elected every 10 years
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA

Heart B

Designation: Heart B
Name: The Criminal Heart, Underground
Climate: Continental climate with four even seasons
Landscape/ Geography:Part of Heart A capital and its surroundings
Points of Interest:

  • Umbral Market: The market of Heart B, where anything can be found. The deeper one digs, the worse it gets.
Flora & Fauna: Same as Heart A but limited to urban lifeforms
Economics: crimes, smuggling and shady deals in general. Although there are some legal businesses trying to survive here and there it is very difficult due to the heavy influence of the various illegla organisations
(Dominant) Culture: Same as Heart A
Political Structure(2): Technically Heart A City Council, factually ruled by criminal organizations
Stereotypes about and by other hearts:One better have confidence if they go for a living in this place

Heart C

Designation: Heart C
Name:Luuvia, The Autumn Heart, The Golden Heart
Climate:Continental with very long autumns
Landscape/ Geography:Hills and plains seem to be equally present, mountains surrounding the Heart forming a basin
Points of Interest:

  • The Royal Palace and the famous courtyard surrounding it: The courtyard has some of the oldest and tallest trees of the region. The Thousand Year Old Oak was planted by Romina’s ancestors and despite the name it has aged much older than that. (This oak is present in a lot of emblems and shields) The Luuvion family contracts the best gardeners of the Heart to come and care for the whole of the gardens and keep it neat. Gardeners are kept in very high regard, and those who serve or served the royal dynasty are especially proud of this.
  • Sannia Ulan: A huge mansion of traditional architecture where the nobles meet up and have social gatherings. While politics are often present in discussions during the events held here, it is also a source of balls, celebrations and simple business talks. The Sannia Ulan is also known for their gallery of arts, wine cellars and blood vaults. Every year a different noble family is chosen to care for the place and host its events.
Flora & Fauna: Lots of oak forests with other deciduous types that seem to keep the red and yellow colors for long months. The fields and plains are full of wildflowers, vineyards and orchards. Waterfalls and forest lakes can be found among the limestone hills and mountainsides.
Economics: Agriculture and lots of orchards, gem mining, home of many exclusive wines, blood trade, honey, traditional crafts and entertainment
(Dominant) Culture:
  • Conservative compared to Heart A/B, but not as averse to modern technology as other hearts, bamharrs of Heart C seek to implement new innovations carefully into their already existing traditions without abandoning those. Profits are almost as important as traditions to the locals.
  • The fashion of this heart consists of long skirts, classical and ornate styles, expensive fabrics, hand-made pieces add to the value as traditional ways are kept in high regard. Modern types of clothing tend to stand out quite a lot in a negative way.
  • Arts in general play a huge part in the social life of the Heart.
Political Structure(1): Absolute Monarchy, current ruler is Queen Romina Luuvion
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: Because of the general high standard of living in Heart C, bamharrs of other places tend to think of everyone from Luuvia as rich, somewhat well off or having had it easy in life. The old noble lineages and accumulated assets/wealth definitely play a role in that.

Heart H

Designation: Heart H
Name: The Frozen Heart
Climate: Continental mountain climate with long and harsh winters and only short summers
Landscape/ Geography: Snowy mountainside with dense pine forests
Points of Interest:

  • Teleporters are often hard to reach due the rocky terrain and the barely melting snow
Flora & Fauna: A rather rough environment that only lets those with adaption to alpine environments survive
Economics: Tourism for their natural hot springs but the locals are mainly trading among themselves. It is advised to look up guides for such journeys for the hot springs though, preferably by friendly tribes. From the perspective of other hearts this place is not a priority for trade or deeper business relations.
(Dominant) Culture:
  • slightly asian/eurasian inspired in their architecture and clothing that vary from village to village
  • hesitant on introducing new technologies, but mostly due to the time it takes for modernizations to reach the villages
Political Structure(2): No central power or leader, different clans rule over their villages or communities. Once a year, the clan leaders who bother with it come together to discuss political and economical affairs of the entire heart.
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA

Heart I

Designation: Heart I
Name: The Wild Heart, The Archipelago, Namico
Climate: Tropical seaside for the most parts, can differ at some places due to currents
Landscape/ Geography: Composed of numerous tropical islands
Points of Interest: TBA Flora & Fauna: Partially unknown due to the wild jungles found on many islands. It is possible that there are many uncategorized animals and plants live there, but the untamed wilderness is also dangerous to venture in alone and unprepared, so it is not advised
Economics: Self-reliant mostly, tourism in a small parts
(Dominant) Culture:

  • Independent bamharrs who try to resist Heart A’s political influence. The communities form alliances among each other when needed.
Political Structure(2): Different tribes rule independently from each other over their respective territories
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA

Heart K

Designation: Heart K
Name: (The Heart of) Paradise
Climate: Subtropical maritime
Landscape/ Geography: Seaside with long sandy beaches. A mountainside in the east acts as weather divide and shields Heart K from the cold storms of Heart N
Points of Interest:

  • Long beaches, small islands and the open ocean
Flora & Fauna: Palm trees, Sea creatures
Economics: Tourism as by far the biggest sector, fishing
(Dominant) Culture:
  • Heavily influenced by Heart A
Political Structure(1): Heart A City Council with local representatives to handle daily business
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA

Heart L

Designation: Heart L
Name: The Proud Heart, The Heart of Spring

Points of Interest:

  • Birdwatch: A plateau in the mountains where all sorts of beautiful birds and their nests can be found.
Flora & Fauna: Lots of bright and pinkish trees on the mountainsides, home to many types of birds.
Economics: Traditional and vital goods exchanged between the counties in trade.
(Dominant) Culture:
  • Divided into counties
  • Every county can have a different form of leadership and political structure
  • Bamharrs of Heart L mostly view themselves as Heart L bamharrs secondary to their communal identity, but will put all their internal quarrels aside whenever there is a threat to the whole Heart
Political Structure(2): Local lords/representatives who manage their parts of Heart L on their own, but meet once a year to discuss and handle large scale affairs
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA

Heart M

Designation: Heart M
Name: The Desert Heart, The Divided Heart
Climate: Arid desert
Landscape/ Geography: Mostly sandy desert with few bodies of waters or rocky mountains sprinkled across and a brim of fertile land near the coast
Points of Interest:

  • Lots of huge crystals throughout the heart
Flora & Fauna: Plants and animals that can stand the heat and sun, like cacti or baobab trees.
Economics: TBA
(Dominant) Culture: TBA Political Structure(2): Divided into smaller regions of different political structures, the biggest fraction is a council ruling over the more fertile land. They are opposed by an organization called “Windcall”, who seek to make Heart M truly independent from anyone. More traditional places ruled by old bloodlines also have joined together to oppose the council.
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA

Heart N

Designation: Heart N
Name: The Bleeding Heart, the Horned Heart, The Warrior Heart
Climate: Cold maritime, very rainy and often hit by storms coming from the sea.
Landscape/ Geography: Mountains and hills into which the sea and rivers have carved deep fjords over time. Located on both sides of Heart A and the bay. a mountainside in the west acts as weather divide and shields Heart K from the cold storms.
Points of Interest: TBA Flora & Fauna: Very similar to the human world, animals ranging from domesticated to continental wildlife.
Economics: Sales sector, modern technology, crystal and teleporter sector; Agriculture and mining in the countryside
(Dominant) Culture:

  • Legends say that bamharrs from Heart N once sailed across the sea and established settlements on the dark continent in the north
  • Bodypaint plays a crucial role in the culture of Heart
Political Structure(1): There is currently a civil war going on within the heart
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: Heart N bamharrs are often seen as primitive and brutal

Heart O

Designation: Heart O
Name: The Heart of Steel, The Factory
Climate: Continental, the smoke and fumes tend to keep even the sunlight out of parts of the region, rains are very much acidic
Landscape/ Geography: Polluted, lots of hills with little living nature, rivers and waters are used for the factories and generating energy
Points of Interest:

  • The heavy industrialisation of Heart O polluted almost all of the Heart so it is quite difficult to find bamharrs who’d happily spend their lives in this atmosphere. There are however congregations of inhabitable blocks of houses strictly for the use of workers.
  • There are quite a few prisons placed in this heart, the worst ones are kept underground. There are reports that these prisons built in the deep are mainly holding cybharrs as inmates, as they are much more capable of breaking out otherwise.
Flora & Fauna: Barely any left, only the very resilient type of animals seems to have taken a liking in the area while hunting for anything edible.
Economics: Power source for the other hearts, technological research, handling of the waste of bigger hearts nearby
(Dominant) Culture:
  • None in particular, very modernized and ruled often by violent and firm supervisors
Political Structure(1): Units of Corporations with strong leaders, Heart A City Council (there seems to be a lot of corruption in the local branch of the council)
Stereotypes about and by other hearts:
  • Nobody wants to end up in Heart O, even just the mention of this heart brings shivers to many. Only those who are in dire need of funds or are in debt tend to move there.
  • The trafficking of cybharrs into this region is pretty much rumored in the more modernized areas of the Core.

Heart P

Designation: Heart P
Name: The Trader’s Heart, the Barren Heart
Climate: Arid mountain climate
Landscape/ Geography: Rocky and barren grounds with only few open sources of water. Large cave systems and a spine of jagged mountains bordering the rift
Points of Interest:

  • Illydia: oasis city and capital of Heart P
  • The river providing water to Illydia is coming from a glacier and vanishes underground shortly after the border of the city
  • Experiences seasonal dust storms, the greatest is called “the Howling” since it is coming from the rift
  • The heart's teleportation crystal is located outside Illydia, so there are scouts and rangers escorting people traveling to and from there.
Flora & Fauna: TBA
Economics: Sales sector, tourism
(Dominant) Culture:
  • Settlements are carved into the mountains and contain cave systems in addition to the open streets as a means to access hidden sources of water and for protection against the storms
  • Most settlements are somewhat self-reliant, however, Illydia is dependent on trade with other places. Therefore, merchants and rangers are the most important and respected professions
  • Blood lines have little to no meaning. The position within the society is not about ancestors of the past, it’s all about the skills of the present. Families do not have to be related to be considered as such.
  • Rangers of Heart P keep a close eye on the border to the rift and have established a series of connected outpost for better surveillance
Political Structure(1): Senate of influential citizens, positions are not passed on by bloodlines, a vacant seat has to be earned
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: In the past, Heart P was infamous as a hub of slave trading. Especially in Heart M, some still resent Bamharrs of Heart P because of that.

Heart S

Designation: Heart S
Name: Ormo, the Wetlands
Climate: Humid continental climate
Landscape/ Geography: Alluvial land, bogs, swamps with dense forests and occasional moors and wet meadows. Oftentimes hard to tell where the river or lake ends and where the muddy land begins. Many places are flooded seasonally when it's warmer in Heart H.
Points of Interest:

  • The Cradle: a meadow renown for the abundance of wildflowers and butterflies. The exact location is kept secret from outsiders, and tourists and researchers may only be lead there by specifically chosen rangers who have to take different routes each time to prevent unauthorized discovery
  • Bruk, the main town of the House of Dragonfly's territory and the location of the only crystal that allows for teleportation to other hearts. The town has become a hub for outsiders' exploration and trade location with other hearts, although due to the almost daily rain and/or fog, it's not a place where visitors stay for very long.
  • The Silk Forest; a plantation of several different plants dedicated to nurture and breed the Ormo Moth for silk production. Heart S silk comes in various dark shades, unlike the typically white and off-white colors of other raw silks. It’s located at the border of Heart S and Heart W and integrated into the naturally dark forest of this area - both to hide the place from poachers and to keep the environment healthy. The Silk Forest is the only place that does not belong to a house's territory.
Flora & Fauna: everything you can find in human world wetlands - the Heart is filled with wildlife of all sizes and ecological niches. Heart S is also the home of the Ormo Moth
Economics: Ormo silk, cranberry and mushroom farming, tourism. Heart S is mostly self reliant though, so not much need to interact with other hearts to be able to sustain itself
(Dominant) Culture:
  • Settlements are built on stilts and have little dikes, dams, and levees around them, which can be opened to intentionally flood the place for additional protection against invaders. Often, these dykes are very maze-like in their arrangement.
  • Bamharrs native to this place and very traditional and pride themselves in not being reliant on electricity and other modern things - in fact, electricity is barely available in this heart due to the omnipresence of water and moisture.
  • Clothing styles are focused on being practical, easy to move in, and providing protection against wet feet, bloodsucking insects or parasites like ticks or leeches. Drapes and trails are reserved for formal wear and are often detachable as they would not last long in the wetlands
  • Heart S bamharrs are very strict on preservation, be it their traditional lifestyle or the untamed nature of the heart. rangers protecting the wilderness against illegal destruction and poachers are quite militaristic in their organization and equipment.
  • Bamharrs from Heart S view themselves as part of Heart S mainly, the connection to a certain House is not as tight as in other Hearts. The houses are commonly viewed mostly as a form of political organization and not as much as an identity
Political Structure(1): Council of twelve matriarchs. Each of them oversees her own house who hold dominion over a part of Heart S. The houses are based on plants or animals living in the heart, like House of Spider or House of Dragonfly. Houses rule over a specific territory of the heart and are responsible for it. The matriarchs are sometimes referred to as "witches", although that is a linguistic misunderstanding and has nothing to do with actual witchcraft.
Stereotypes about and by other hearts:
  • Heart S natives consider most inhabitants of other hearts, especially those with large amounts of technology, to be weak and fragile. They respect other traditional bamharrs.
  • Most modern bamharrs consider Heart S to be a muddy backwater town with people who are too stubborn to try out new things.

Heart W

Designation: Heart W
Name: Heart of Darkness
Climate: Continental with four seasons, quite wet from the frequent rains
Landscape/ Geography: Huge dark forests, deep lakes. Since Heart W’s crystal barrier is weak, the darkness coming from the Rift is very dominant in the land.
Points of Interest:

  • Dark Theme Park built around the main crystal of the Heart
Flora & Fauna: Dark forests with a lot of vines and more monstrous creatures lurking in the dark. One might find poisonous plants (or ones with outstanding healing qualities), dog-size spiders or even hostile trees around.
Economics: TBA
(Dominant) Culture:
  • None in particular but many seem to associate dark activity with the region. The communities that formed around tend to have to endure all the trials of dangerous creatures that come from the Rift.
Political Structure(1): Overseen by Lady Samuel for Heart A City Council
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA

Heart Zeta

Designation: Heart Zeta
Name: Ghost Heart, The Abandoned Heart
Climate: Continental
Landscape/ Geography: Abandoned and overgrown cities, industrial parks.
Points of Interest:

  • Previously flourishing technology and science based Heart till a few accidents happened and research on a big scale had to be shut down.
  • Cybharrs were originally created and researched on here
Flora & Fauna: Plants and animals from neighbouring hearts
Economics: None anymore
(Dominant) Culture:
  • None in particular anymore, only a few bamharrs seem to have been sticking around.
Political Structure(1): None
Stereotypes about and by other hearts: TBA
(1): Must check with admins about joining the leadership if interested
(2): Small locations and their leadership can be made up by every member of the species
