Imbeshia

The adventure - or at least, this part of the ongoing adventure of Tevvyr & Varis's lives - begins in Imbeshia, a medium sized coastal nation on the continent of Ovilierne. It is known for its rich history of art and invention, lush and beautiful scenery, and high standard of living. Most of the population lives comfortably, thanks to a well run government and long-standing royal line that is renowned for their fairness and compassion. They are bordered by mountains to the north and the ocean to the south, and they maintain peaceful relations with the nations to their east and west, Crescen and Ublau.

Avibelle

Imbeshia's capital, seat of government, home of the royal family, and the hub for travel and trade, Avibelle is a coastal city with a diverse population and a centuries old history. Many of the government buildings and noble residences are renowned for their historical architecture, which contributes to its popularity as a tourist destination. Avibelle's location on the coast means mild weather and stunning views of the ocean, making it the most visited city in the county. Seasonal festivals draw citizens from throughout the country, and the midsummer festival is the largest celebration of the year, bringing in thousands of foreign tourists as well.

Points of interest in Avibelle include the grand royal palace, one of the oldest apothecaries in all of Ovilierne, and a bevy of shops catered to the large tourist industry. The main street includes an open air market that is bustling year round, packed with shoppers and shopkeepers alike, and restaurants featuring food from across the land.

Avibelle has a very diverse population, with races from nearly every corner of the world having at least a small presence in the city. The royal family line is human but welcoming to everyone, and the population is predominantly humans, halflings, gnomes, and tieflings. Colorful and loosely fitted clothing is the norm, and gold jewelry inlaid with gemstones are worn to show off wealth. Despite the many different backgrounds citizens have, they share a zest for life and generally positive attitude.

Crescen

The nation directly to the east of Imbeshia, it too sits on the coast of the Cronruru Sea. While not as wealthy a nation, it is still quite prosperous, especially around the wizarding schools across the country. They have a peaceful relationship with Imbeshia, mostly due to trading. They are also technically on peaceful terms with Sofyl, the elven nation to their north, though it is mostly due to Sofyl being a private and secluded country with minimal outside communication.

Age late 20s

Class Cleric | Knowledge Domain | Vecna/Ioun

Tevvyr Infalis is a cleric, scholar, and all around student of life. As the child of one of the wealthiest banking families in Imbeshia, Tevvyr grew up privileged with a fabulous education that only furthered his lust for knowledge. Although in public and in spirit he serves the goddess of knowledge Ioun, he also secretly worships Vecna, the evil lich-god of secrets. Some might consider this a slippery slope to wickedness, but in Tev's mind there is no such thing as evil when it comes to knowledge- it's all about how you use it. When not plundering tombs for lost secrets, he enjoys reading romance novels.

Name Varis Lorz'zt Naïloshnee
Age 50-ish

Varis is a half-elf/half-demon: an odd combination that he likes to keep to himself for the most part, instead choosing to present as a tiefling. The two of them also travel around Ovilierne in the search of obscure magical knowledge (and maybe some adventure).

Unfortunately for Aldemo, this bard held allegiance to the College of Whispers under the guise of being in the College of Glamour. Aldemo was whisked away from their family, their home and raised by their own kidnapper. Too young to realize what happened, Aldemo recognizes this bard as their father. Once they turned 16, they were unleashed on the world with the tricks and lessons they were taught. Since then, Aldemo has tried their best to not gain a negative reputation but still loves gaining people's trust only to manipulate them. They're only one bard, how much trouble could they really cause?

Royalty of Imbeshia

King Cosimo Valudi Dromichaetes

King Cosimo ruled Imbeshia for decades, outliving his wife and children, and was one of the most beloved rulers in recent history. He pushed for laws that would better protect the multitude of races and cultures throughout Imbeshia and spearheaded policies that put Imbeshia at the front of many new breakthroughs in magical research. He strengthened their relationship with the neighboring country of Crescen by donating to their various wizarding schools and establishing a shared study program that contributed to the advances in magical research.

He peacefully passed away five years ago, surrounded by his family, friends, and remaining descendants, and was succeeded by his youngest brother.

King Virius Sidoni Dromichaetes

King Virius strives to follow in his eldest brother's footsteps and honor his legacy by continuing to put forth policies that will improve the livelihoods of the citizens of Imbeshia. He has recently been working towards improved foreign relations; Imbeshia is well liked already, but he believes that their relationship with Crescen shows that they can do even better.

Queen Amèlie de Castellana

Queen Amèlie spends her time working on further improvements to the arts and education systems in Imbeshia. When not traveling as a diplomat, she is frequently seen in attendance of plays in the entertainment district of Avibelle. She was born and raised in Athain, a small nation on the western coast, and tries to weave some of her homeland into Avibelle's look.

Prince Ottavio Siervius Dromichaetes

Prince Ottavio is the current heir to the throne.

Notes

  • Varis's elven parent, Luanari, is from Sofyl, a coastal nation to the north of Crescen populated almost entirely by elves. They probably wouldn't be welcome back there due to Sofyl's rigid social guidelines and laws.
  • Ovilierne is west of the Sho Kingdom, where The Hound of Night takes place, and is happening in a similar time (so cameos from HoN characters are welcome).
  • While Common is spoken throughout Ovilierne, there are many regional dialects.
  • Tieflings tend to be regarded with distrust, but one of the most prominent banking families in Imbeshia is a family of tieflings, the Infalis.
  • Between Ovilierne and the Kingdom of Sho sits the country of Catapesh, a desert nation.
