The world of [name pending] is a world filled with magic, dragons, mysteries, and wonders. a world rife with history, both kind and sad.

Setting: Grimoira takes place in your typical fantasy world, in the mainly human country of Saerith. In the world of grimoira, all books were written by mages, and mages are and have been for century's writers & scholars, they write history, draw maps, & illustrate fairytales. they are (in a sense) the knowledge of the world. so books in this world are all magically in someway or another. something to take note is that because of the magical properties of books, certain types of mages are able to "live" through the stories or create projections of the events that happen inside.

The story:
More than fifty years ago, there was a trusting king who was loved by his people, the king wished to thank his people, and threw a grand party inviting those from all over the kingdom. The king wished to spread the happiness as far as he could. One individual amongst the guest aproached the king, and asked "Are you truely so naive sir king, to think we are all after the same things?" The person then cast a spell, striking the king through his heart, killing him in an instant. The kings son, watched the entire thing play out, and watched his father meet his end.

The kings son, prince Lambert. as he grew, began to hate magic more and more. mages were powerful and respected, but because so they could also do whatever they wanted, he wanted to end this era. When lambert turned of age, and was declared the king of his kingdom. He gave an order to find the whereabouts of his fathers killer, and destroy him and everyone close to him.

Soon the killers location was found, in a town south of the forest, the home of the mages of dark magic. The demons from the unknown. The whole town was ordered to be destroyed. That same night, fire burned high into the skies, the ruler of the demon's who was unkillable by all but fire was tied to a stake, and set aflame She screamed at the sky, yelling her final words as a curse
"King Lambert Saerith! for your crimes against my people, you will meet your end at the age of 40! and all your children born after will die ten years younger each time!" Through her tears, she screamed one last time, disapearing into the flames, her... and her unborn child. As proof of the curse, a tattoo looking of a vine appeared on the kings hand, and slowly grew higher, the kings health deteriorated with it.

No cure could be found for the curse, mages and doctors from all across the land tried, but failed. There was only one hope, a book older than time itself, with secrets only it knew that was kept at a temple, king lambert himself went there to ask for the book, but the mages of the temple said each "no, it is impossible" for everytime he asked, no matter what he offered.
The king grew angry, and attempted to take the book by force. but the book was nowhere to be found, and know one knew where it had went. Fear and anger built up, and lambert made a law that all books, tomes, and anything of the sort were to be handed over to the kingdom, failing to comply would mean death. Lambert however did not live long enough to see the events unfold, as he died in his sleep on his 40th birthday.

Books were mages prides, joys, and hard work, and many refused to give them up. The blatant abuse towards mages soon started a rebellion, that escalted into a war. Lead by the new king and son of lambert, Issac saerith.

The war began turning one sided, the mages were at first winning, but a new type of ranged weapon was developed, one made from a stone that could negate magic. And the battle had evened out.

In what would be the last battle, a young man appeared in the middle of the battlefield with a magical tome in hand, he uttered mysterious words And with a wave of his hand stopped the soldiers in their tracks and ordered the king to end the battle, the king was unable to not do this, controlled by the mage to say the words, and bowed to his knee to the man.

And to the leader of the rebellion, his magic was dispelled, forever taken away from him, never to use magic again. The book that was used then disapeared, the very same book needed to save the kings life.

Peace found it's way back into the land, though a forced one, tensions were still high between mages and non mages, and books were still outlawed to civillians.
With this a proposal came from the man who stopped the war. to the current prince, 15 year old Sebastien saerith.

"If you allow me to make a place, a safe haven for mages and all things magic, then with all my powers i will aid you in finding the book that will save your life." And with this proposal, the academy and library of Grimoira was born

Our story follows 4 groups of people, each after their own dreams, goals, or wishes.

The Library:
The library is a school of sorts for mages who either have no where else to go or want somewhere where they are free to use and practice their magic. As the name suggests, the library houses thousands of magical books and tomes, and takes in mages from all over the country as students, teaching them the ways of magic. The library strives to be self sufficient, so everyone who comes in is expected to help out in one way or another, to help keep things organized students and teachers alike are put into teams, each team will be given different chores to do daily. (ex, cooking, cleaning, tending to crops, ect) There is a field where crops are grown and a chicken coop with, well, chickens. :'u the academy as of now can't afford to get cows or other farm animals.

The main building is home to the massive library of books & tomes. kitchen, and lunchroom. while the 2nd floor is where magic classes are held. on the roof there is a greenhouse.
The dorm is a 3 floor building, everyone lives there
The headmaster of the school is a aloof elf mage named Alberich.

In the library students are categorized by what their magical skills are, or by what the excel most in.
Purple All students who first come to the academy start off as freshman (purple) for the first year, and depending on what their good at they will be added to one of these divisions after a year.
Yellow are known as Storytellers Those whose magical skills allow them to "Read" a book. meaning they can project the images of a book into reality or take themselves or others into the book.
Green are Scholars, Writers & artist of new stories, they can rewrite, restore and fix errors in old books, or write entirely new ones themselves.
Red are known as Vanguard"s, mages who's skills lean more towards combat, because of this they act as guards & scouts for the library.
Blue Are known as mages, Those who either fall into none of the above mentioned divisions or into multiple.
White Are known as medics, they practice alchemy, medicines, and healing magics. easily healing small cuts or working for hours on the injured.

The castle of Cobal:
Sebastian is the current king of the kingdom of saerith, at 19 years old he only has 7 months to find a cure for the curse cast on his family, or he will meet his end. During the little time he has left, he wishes to travel around his country and learn what magic is truly like, despite people being after his life.
The castle are the servants, maids, stablemen and knights who work directly in the castle under the king.

The harbingers:
In the ruins of bormick, there lies a group small group of mages, dark mages to be exact. That seek but one thing, the death of the king and the fall of cobal, fueled by revenge and their own ideals of peace, they eradicate all that may stand in their way.

The 'Harbingers' are a group of survivors and ancestors of the survivors of the attack on bormick some years ago, thet have moved back into bormick making it a once again their home, the leader of them would be Sirius, a vampire who at the time of the first attack, could not protect the people of bormick.

And the Order of the crown:
Some 23-ish years ago, a knight who worked closely under king issac came to him and handed him a piece of paper preposing an idea. "I wish to help those born with magic find the right path, to do good with their lives. we are heavily undermanned as is, so..." He wished to start a new group of knights, ones that would work outside the walls of the castle town and help keep the peace all about the country, ones that would make use of magic. The king trusted this man greatly, and allowed him to start what is now known as the order of the crown.

The good intentions of the man however, did not last, as the group grew corrupt, using their ranking and status to do whatever they pleased no matter how horrid, and simply removing any "untasteful" things from reports to the king. nothing had become to low for the order, they had gone out of control.
Later, the man whom had started the order died of mysterious causes, and his son, Kronos took over as the new leader of the order.

The order stands for as the name suggest, order and law, the are lawkeepers and knights whose loyalty to the king is (or at least should be) unrivaled. But how much of this is true? what truly goes on in the inside, and what are they truly after?
