Welcome to Dhara

pronounced 'dah-rah'

Dhara is a planet previously ravaged by an intense war, begun by four national superpowers and ended by them when they attempted to eliminate each other all at once. In its former state, Dhara was very similar to Earth in terms of ecosystem--many species there could also be found on Dhara.

6,003 years later, humanity has rebuilt itself, but is noticeably different from before. 5,000 years of rapid evolution has made Dhara a very different place. Different subtypes of humans, evolutionarily advanced species, and strange, cryptid-like entities now populate the planet. Even with the world being so dangerous, humanity has come together once again, set aside their differences for good, and survive together in tranquility in cities of old and new.

However, as usual, danger is always afoot in the form of the Anti-Bestial Coalition, a strange organization that seeks to bring 'peace, prosperity, and perfection' to humanity in order to cure their 'blighted hearts'. They have taken some cities already, entrapping all who live there permanently inside and prohibiting them to leave. Why leave in such a dangerous world? Why be on their own when they could be here in the comfort of others?

Many people fear that one day, their homes will be taken too, and the Coalition will force them to be more mindless acolytes with their propaganda. Others, though, seek to tear apart the Coalition from the inside—and some even know their deepest secrets... like the identity of their enigmatic leader, and her twisted mind.

In meta terms, Dhara is an anthology of stories that eventually intersect with one another and become a single story by the end. Told in three different parts containing multiple chapters, each story follows a number of characters and their journey to explore the Oberanian continent, learn the dark intricacies of the Anti-Bestial Coalition, and also explore themselves.

Generally, each story has a 'protagonist', even though the perspective of many other characters is explored in the same way. There is:

✖ Jinerva Nima, the protagonist of the Northview story. A martial arts expert, but also a pacifist, she wants nothing more than to lead a peaceful life with her friends and make the town of Northview a better place. She is hesitant against using violence, but will fight if she must—as long as it's nothing like knives, of course. Her signature weapon, the tonfa, is representative of this fact.

Galice Kehinde, the protagonist of the On the Run story, and the partner of Halifax. She is incredibly serious about her pursuit to end the Anti-Bestial Coalition's reign and hates wasting time. An exceptional fighter, her signature weapons are her twin golden rapiers. Her end goal is to tear apart the Coalition from the inside, expose its true, dark nature to its people and its members, and finally bring peace to the world.

Piroska Yelizarov, the son of the Kova Order leader Res Yelizarov and a prominent member among its ranks. He's known not only for his affinity for animals and nature, but also his strange, violent edge and short temper. After being sent on a mission by his father to recover his long-lost half-sibling, he's been traveling in the direction of the Oberanian capitol of Joiross while slowly learning about the rest of the world Res has shielded him from.

So, where to start?

Considering many character profiles include world-specific locations or organizations, as with anything it would be a good idea to learn the basic rules and mechanics of the world first (however, there are often mini-definitions in character profiles to help you out, if you don't have the time). World-specific terminology isn't abundant here though, so you would probably be fine if you just jumped right in.

If you would like to learn about the story as it happens, there's a place for that too. As of now it's incomplete, but you can check The Story pages for what's written so far. It's a generalized plot yet to be properly written out in story format, which might never properly come, but small stories will appear every now and then. For now the basic progression of the story will be written in bullet points, because... well, I've got to plan it all out before I do anything, right?

In the second section for the less important resources and directories, this information will likely be mentioned in passing or explained along the way. They mostly exist for me to keep track of smaller details.

Resources and Directories

→ Human Subtype Information: This is vital world information, considering... well... you know. Most of the characters are human.

→ Technological Information: Information on technological advancements and how far technology has come in general. Sort of important for understanding world mechanics.

→ Cultural Information: A general overview of Oberanian/Dharian culture. More of an in-depth look here, but you would likely just catch on to the culture or have it gradually explained in-story anyways.

Species Information: Information on fauna found throughout the world. Lengthy and not really necessary.

Character Directory: It is what it is. All main characters are laid out here.

Nonessential Resources and Directories

→ Event Calendar: This is to keep track of dates for holidays and various other events.

→ Book of Names: General info on the meaning of some names and some information about Oberanian/Dharian naming conventions. Not important but just a fun thing I made.
