However, through an event known as the Great Evanesce, magic simply... faded from the world. Public opinion soured on magic, countless arts were lost, and the few remaining magic-users sought out other realms to practice their craft. Earth stayed relatively magic-free until it exploded back on the scene several thousand years later, and several creatures that were thought lost to time showed themselves after millenia of staying hidden. Earth was one of the first planets to be targeted by the Exiled One during the War of the Light. Already reeling from the reintroduction of magic, the Exiled One's invasion wasn't noticed until it was almost too late. Once signs of the invasion became clear, there was a panicked effort to escape the planet before it fully hit. However, only a handful of ships out of the several hundred that were planned actually succeeded in leaving Earth, and only one ship made it to its destination. In current day, Earth is best known for several things, premier of which is its wide variety of plant life and animal life it can support. Conservation efforts to restore several species, both native and from off-world, have seen several successes, a few species even being saved from the brink of extinction. This care towards to the environment extends to The final battle against the Exiled One was waged on Earth, and echoes of its magic and shards of its corpse can still be found several hundred years later.
