Yuusha Academy is a private escalator school in Chiba that goes from elementary all the way up to university. As long as a student passes all their final exams they will be able to move onto the next tier of their schooling within the system. While those who start from the bottom do not need to take the entrance exam, outside students who wish to enter at the Middle School or High School levels still must take the entrance exam.

The only exception to this rule comes to play at the high school level. To apply for the Hero Course a student must pass the Hero Course Exam which tests a student's problem solving capabilities as well as combat skills. The process of the Hero Course Exam is as follows:

  • Applicants are to send in a profile which includes details on their quirk, an essay covering their interest in being a hero, and a recommendation letter from a middle school teacher
  • In January the exams are held beginning with the problem solving test, two days of testing follow the following procedure:
  • Day One: Applicants are given a scenario and put under pressure to react and handle the situation. This exam takes place solo within a building and proctored by two teachers who grade the child on reaction time, creativity, and how they handled the pressure. Teachers are given the discretion to add bonus points if they feel the student deserves it as well as are to leave many notes on the events.
  • Day Two: Applicants are partnered with a current first year student and the applicant is instructed to view the student as a "villain" to apprehend. Let loose in a replica town while a large number of other exams are going on, the applicants have an hour to restrain and handcuff their villain amidst the chaos. Even if a student is unable to restrain their villain their handling and use of their quirk could potentially rack them up enough points to pass the exam.
  • After the exams on the second day, students are brought in for an interview which covers why they chose the school, their essay, as well as their thoughts on the exam. This interview is mainly to gauge the mental state of the students as well as get a handle of their natures.
  • Only 40 students are accepted every year and so after going over the scores and notes for the students it takes until March for the results to be released. With school starting the first week of April, this does not give students much time to prepare their uniform requests. Students that do not make it until the hero course are placed into General Education for the start of the year.

Located in Chiba's Kujukuri area the school's campus is only two blocks away from the beach and hosts a wide variety of buildings. As an escalator school the classrooms for elementary, middle school, and high school are all located on the grounds though in separate wings with a large courtyard as the middle ground. Each grade level has their own set of gyms as well as sport fields and pools so that PE classes are not interrupted and everything can run smoothly. On the lot next to the school is where all the gyms and work spaces for the hero course exist which includes locations such as replica suburbs, replica city space, as well as reinforced sturdy gyms for quirk training. These also include spaces with workout equipment for strength training, wave pools, and saunas.

When it comes to clubs, the school focuses largely on cultural clubs due to much of their athletic focus aimed toward the hero department. Regardless of your department students are able to join the clubs but generally hero department is busy with internships and their own studies and as such is not given any pressure or encouragement to join a club. The Student Council is an elected group of students that delegate funds for the clubs as well as school events, elections for the student council begin at the start after winter break so that the older member may tutor the new one until their term official starts in the new school year. On top of the council - which includes the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and events officer - each class also has a female and a male class rep.
