TED'S MONSTERS's Bulletins

Overhaul!

Posted 2 years, 1 month ago by alxq

Hi everyone. TED's Monsters has been neglected ever since I made the world so I'd like to say that, giving it a lot of thought, it'll undergo a large overhaul instead! It's gonna be a completely open species with little to no restriction on the "traits". I'll probably have to make an updated visual guide one day to explain it all.

If you've bought any TED or trait for money, send me a DM with a receipt to the purchase and I'll refund you.

HISTORY

The year was 3xxxx. The space station TITAN EXPLORER: DELTA has come back to Neo-Earth from its 40 year excursion across the galaxy to find resources to help with Neo-Earth's dying environment. When the engineers went in to make general repairs and maintenance, they found a strange new alien, aptly named ted, chewing the trash it took from the garbage disposal. They isolated the alien and took it to the research facility TITAN, now called the TED CENTER.

The first few days in isolation proved fruitless and a strain on resources because the once docile alien became violent and thrashed about its room constantly. Only when the researchers let the alien roam in a controlled jungle environment did it return to its tame disposition. Thought to have been due to the stress produced from tests, it was later realized as restlessness generated by a sterile environment.

The following weeks of studying ted astonished researchers. ted is shown to have the ability to recognize its own self and to solve puzzles showing comprehension beyond the level of a primate. It can understand spoken and written language and conveys a range of emotions similar to humans, limited only by its physical capabilities. Amazingly, it responds to its given name, ted, and can understand situational context to a degree. It shows a strong need to dig often and play fetch.

For the next several years, researchers found the most important trait ted possesses: a genetic structure that allows it to receive stray DNA and produce a stable gene sequence. The research center's biggest breakthrough now re-purposed its goal: producing TED clones with hybridized DNA to help with Neo-Earth's resource allocation problem. Using strands of shed fur from ted, the center began its foray into genetic manipulation and artificial TED creation.

Devoting all of its resources into its new goal, the research center produced its first successful adult hybrid, H-001, also named hello world 18 years since ted's arrival. After the first TED clone was created, the center was able to terraform Neo-Earth into a rich environment by slowly integrating hundreds of subsequent successful TEDs into the wild over the span of several years.
