Wydran's Bulletins

Lore

Wydran's primary deity is revered and addressed as The Oracle.

The Oracle created Wydran's humans, who in turn created Banuus, an interesting mix of all things avian and canine, and a subtle nod to the appearance of their deity. The very first Banuus have come to be known as Progenitors or, more commonly, Synthetics or Synths. They were born from human technology, cores placed in incubators and monitored for several weeks until a fully functional Nuu was ready to enter the world as a Banuu. However, in creating Banuus, the humans unknowingly engineered a virus that would lead to the fall of humanity. They had long since forgotten their deity and all but heeded her warning. Banuu influenza, or the Banuu flu, decimated the human population. In the chaos that followed, the immune portion of the population fled Wydran for a better life. The majority of them currently reside on a neighboring planet known as Haven.

Progenitor Banuus, trying to make the best of a bad situation, re purposed what was left of the humans' technology so that their species would still have a future on Wydran. The Oracle, devastated by the loss of her children, took an interest in the Banuus. They looked to her for guidance and she found it in her heart to reward their sincerity. The resulting Banuus would come be known as First Generation Banuus, and, unlike their predecessors, were blessed with the ability to reproduce without the use of incubators and cores. Similarly, Second Generation Banuus are those who are born to two First Generation parents. They are the most likely to possess new and striking traits.

As for the Soulheads...

The Oracle was originally enthralled with humanity. They adored her and she cherished them. However, in their pursuit of technology, they soon forgot their deity and harm soon came to her home. She fled to her Forest, but she, too, was perseverant. It was then that she created the very first Soulheads. Once known as Titans, these Guardian Soulheads protected her forest from any human who dare to enter it. They were giants, with skull-like heads, engulfed in the equivalent of the colors of their soul. However, they soon became dangerous in their defense of the Forest and The Oracle again found herself heartbroken. She wept opalescent tears that would soon give birth to the second type of Soulheads that have come to be known as the Magi. Unlike their hulking brethren, Magi Soulheads are gentle, inquisitive, and highly varied. No two look alike.

The simplest and perhaps the strangest of the Soulheads are the Coreborns. They are quite literally born from the cores of deceased Banuus. They, too, are a peaceful, albeit misunderstood lot. They are often found together in Soulbound pairs.
