History

Started by the mysterious and charismatic toskal, Lazarus, Demon's Gate was founded to provide a safe haven, and a rebirth for toskals of various backgrounds under the guidance of demons. During his rite, Lazarus heard the first whispers of the Dark Ones, and accepted himself as the conduit to spread their will. The young alpha quickly began captivating others on their respective journeys with tales of salvation and purpose under the guidance of the Dark Ones. Soon, Lazarus had assembled a following, and a handful of Generals to help carry out his vision. The group tool residence in a cliffside cave, and began to grow their ranks and their own society.
Lazarus uses his charming smile and quick wit, backed up by the muscle of his generals to maintain the tribe, as well as recruit new members into the little family of outcasts he's created.

Tribe Life

The tribe resides in a cliffside cave where they shelter, however, most of the group's activities take place either atop or around the rock face itself. Though whispers of ritualistic cannibalism are popular surrounding the tribe's occult nature, this is not the truth. The tribe hunts nearby game and gathers herbs for food. 

For entertainment, the tribe takes place in voluntary Gladiatorial Arena Tournaments. They may fight either dangerous beasts from nearby the tribe, as well as their own tribemates. Survival is not guaranteed, but glory in the name of the Dark Ones, through either life or death is. Taking part in these shows strength, bravery, and devotion to the beings they worship. To take part is to bring honor to one's self, and both those who live and die in these challenge are regarded as heroes.

Occasionally, tribe members who have made a name for themselves are sent out to gather new blood for the family. Conscious toskals are persuaded peacefully to join, perhaps promised a new life after misdeeds, or reassurance of purpose for those outcasted by their own. Pups that have gone missing from their original tribes have been known to surface within Demon's Gate. Whether this is by design, or coincidence remains a mystery.

The tribe is most notable for their strange worship of the occult. Rather than traditional deities, Demon's Gate pledge their devotion to demonic entities dubbed the "Dark Ones". Lazarus leads this worship as a self-proclaimed Demon Lord, a title he explains, was granted by the Dark Ones to spread their teachings. The tribe holds rituals to celebrate the Dark Ones every few moon cycles, the biggest taking place on the third New Moon, when the darkness brings about the Dark Ones' full potential. Bodypaint, bonfires, and ceremonial weapons for gladiator fights are common during these celebrations.

The Rite

Before setting out for their Rite, young toskals of the Demon's Gate tribe are trained n combat via the aforementioned Gladiatorial-Style Arena Tournaments, where they are voluntarily pitted against dangerous beasts, as well as their tribemates.  

Toskals who return from their Rites are celebrated with feasts and fights in their honor, and are adorned with special paints during this time. They are seen as realized warriors under the Dark Ones, and have now achieved full tribe status.
