Story
Around 300 years ago, there was a small mountainous village that was haunted by evils and strange beings, those who lived in the town were always in danger in some way shape or form. It wasn't until one day, a man with strange powers appeared and expelled the evils that plagued the town, he was deemed a hero for his deeds and brought fame and fortune to the once fairly unknown town. Many towns wanted the heroes help as well, so in Amenomachi, a school was made to teach others the abilities he had. One day however... While the man was sick in bed, he was eaten alive by a great beast wanting his powers for itself, the town was covered in flames that day as a great battle was fought. The creature ran but was later found hiding in the forest, and though he could not be killed, he was chased away never to be seen again. Now, after more than 300 years later, the shrine once again stands, though rebuilt from the ground up, a building striving to drive away evils and give blessings to those in need. The shrine of Amenomachi.

The city
Itazura itself takes place in the fictional city of Amenomachi located in the mountains of japan, Amenomachi is entirely surrounded by mountains, and because of this there are only two ways in and out of the city, two tunnels on either ends of the town that go through the mountains. Amenomachi's weather is often cold and wet, rain showers and fogs are very common. Each and every night at 12am sharp, Amenomachi is covered in a thick fog, residents are not allowed to go outside after midnight and stores close at 10pm. There are rumors that strange unknown things hunt the town at midnight, and if you go outside after 12am during the fog you may never return.

°The world
Itazura takes place in this world, but a version where the supernatural is far more prominent and active, the bulk of the focus will however be in japan and on japanese creatures, culture and legends.

°The Yokai world
The yokai world is a world completely separate from our own, it is a yokai only zone and no mortal can get there without a yokai to take them. Any yokai is able to travel to the yokai world, all they need to do is find an entrance into there. Yokai world entrances take the form of small tiny shrines whose path is lined with Tori gates. In Anenomachi there are 2 known entrances, one in the mountains, the other behind the Kageyama hotel. Yokai themselves are meant to be kept secret to the general public, along with the existence of the yokai world. Speaking of them as if they exist is prohibited if your character is aware of them, and your character can't know about it without a logical reason.

°The spirit realm
The world of spirits isn't a world persay, but more like an opposite side of this one, ghost and spirits exist on this plain, and only animals and exorcist or those with high amounts of spiritual energy are able to interact with it, normal humans are unable to see and interact with the beings of this world.

"What can my character be?"
In itazura, their are 4 separate things you can choose from for your character. Mortals> Ghost> Spirits> Yokai and Shikigami The order you just saw that these were placed in is the order in which each occures, mortals are born, if a mortal dies they either pass on or become a ghost, a ghost may evolve into either a spirit or a yokai, while a spirit may just come into existence from strong spiritual energy, a yokai can come from either a spirit, ghost, just come into existence, or be born like a mortal. A shikigami however differs from all of these, in most cases a shikigami is a being created by someone with high amounts of spiritual energy and excels at their powers, a ritual is done that creates a shikigami who is bounded to their master, (This can happen by accident to) in other cases, a shikigami can be something else bounded to their master by a different ritual. A summoned shikigami cannot survive without a master, while a contracted one is only unable to break their contract, if their master breaks the contact or dies then they become free. Both types of shikigami are able to take on the form of an accessory that their master (Or in some cases a trainee who needs a lil bit of extra protection) wears so that they can always be by their side, there is no limit to the amount of shikigami one can have, but only people with large amounts of spiritual energy can have one.
