DEITIES

DEITIES( 神;kami )

A honōbi possessing 6 tails essentially become entry level kami; at this stage they will gain the start of a fine ethereal brume that gently circles them(usually swirling languidly around their feet; anywhere else is also fine). As they gain more tails (7/8/9) this shroud grows/thickens.

AWAKENED
At 9 tails、a honōbi becomes true kami; awakening a third eye、granting them the ability to see all or "omniscience"(up to your interpretation). It is now also possible to form a cloud with their shroud、which the honōbi may sit upon and use to fly.

DIVINE MESSENGERS( 神使;shinshi )

―Ascended―

The Awakened may choose to forever ascend to heaven to become shinshi、 gaining fur-like wings and、depending on their path from there、may procure more than a single pair. Aside from being intermediaries between the gods and humans they may be seen bringing deceased foxes to shrines for reincarnation as honōbi. They are also the harbingers of the exclusive ceremonies*.

SAGES( 狐仙;kousen )
Shinshi who choose to return to the temporal、lose their tails(all but one)and fur-like wings; gaining wings of the earthbound onibi in turn. Just the same as additional tails、these wings may also be hidden at will; when hidden、a (tattoo-like)marking will take their place on the kousen's back(also able to be hidden; glows when using power). Their powers are not lost and it's possible for them to regain their tails the same way prior to ascension. They are also capable of summoning a cloud regardless of their number of tails; the size of their shroud however、is still dependant on the number of tails. Elusive and most notable for their cultivation of spiritual energy in contrast to their traditional purpose、they possess significant healing abilities. Tales suggest they have the power to cure any ailment with a touch of their tail(s)/simply blowing on them or by dance/ritual.

DIVINE BEASTS( 神獣;shinjuu )

―Ascended―

Those of the Awakened possessing superior power who choose to ascend become considered divine beasts (shinjuu)、of which they join the ranks of heavenly wars and are no longer to associate with earthly affairs (although inevitable). They are recognised by a wheel or disk of fire on their backs. It is said they are capable of bestowing blessings and/or curses on humans.
An obscure belief known by few amongst honōbi and fewer who believe it、is the consumption of a shinjuu's flesh bestows their power unto themselves. However、only those who can withstand the immense power can obtain it、else it will transform the consumer into a ferocious husk of a beast* if not outright destroy them.

TENYUU( 天佑 )
Tenyuu honōbi have a halo、possibly more eyes than a third eye and also possess the ethereal shroud/cloud; they may or may not have 9(or more) tails.
They cannot be crossbreeds
.(More info in Lore*
Inherently and inextricably connected to heaven、they're capable of traversing into the realm be it mentally/spiritually、physically whenever the need arises. Possessing unfathomable power bestowed upon them by Inari、they are capable of gaining tails within a short span of time. Upon reaching 9 tails they may choose ascension and descension akin to kousen、gaining wings in likeness. They do not however、lose their tails to this process. Those who ultimately choose heaven over earth have their status as tenyuu—and the blessing(powers)that come with it—rescinded.

DIVINE POWER( 神力;shinryoku )
All deities are capable of casting an AOE called the "divine barrier". This protects the area within、cleansing it of any negative energies. It is particularly effective at warding off OHs、physically hurting them if they come into contact. Barriers are only active for a finite time、and cover a certain radius、both dependent on the deity's energy/strength. There is a cool down period before the barrier can be recast.

※ Multiple barriers can be cast、simultaneously or additionally、but only by deities that have enforced their inner resilience aka the bUFFED AND EXCEPTIONALLY TUFF.

Tenyuu have a divine barrier reserved solely for the protection of their shrine. It lasts infinitely.
