Featherlites and Vuvialites

Featherlites and Vuvialites, the twin species of the Seafire

(Status: Closed Main species)

The Featherlites of Patchenric and the Vuvialites of everstol are similar species, both with a special material called flax between their legs. The two species diverged before the Vuvialites cut themselves off from the world, but both have the blessings of the Primal god of the Seafire. Not much is known besides tales of the seafire from the creation of Featherlites.

The Featherlites are recognized by the flax between their legs, and their feather tail. They resemble foxes in physique, and are nimble and small. The flax allows them to glide between trees and help with swimming. Their feather tail appears heavy, but is practically weightless when touched. Their feather tail also requires brushing to maintain, so featherlites have constructed many devices to help with that, that are also in use by other furred species.

Featherlites are born and grow up the same way foxes do, but become an adult at 20 years and can live for 200 years at most. The flax attached to their legs grows in over time and an adult featherlite is recognized by a full flax and full plumage of feathers on their tail. Featherlites are very family focused and tend to live in large groups, tending to live in large houses to accommodate many. Featherlites also tend to be thin and agile, having very soft bones.

Vuvialites are a species that diverged from Elemental featherlites a very long time ago, living north of Patchenric where they originated. Afflicted with pride, Vuvialites are individualistic and enjoy flashy and pretty things. For many centuries, they closed themselves off from the rest of the world, until the continent of Everstol was rediscovered. Their magic is not as strong as Featherlites, as they have less connection to their primal god.

Vuvialites are recognized by their horns, flax similar featherlites, and an ‘aura’ around their neck. Their flax is more flat and thin compared to featherlites, and different types have different materials for the flax. Their horns can also be different depending on the type. Vuvialites may be more fluffy and typically have winter coats since most of Everstol snows.

Featherlite variants

Water Featherlite

An aquatic variant of Featherlites, the water featherlites are the most common form of featherlites as they live in the jelly seas facing no predators. Their flax and feather tail is changed to fins to allow them to swiftly travel through the seas.

Traits: Finned flax, finned feather tail

Gem Featherlite

A rare variant of featherlites, gemstones glitter their flax and tail, growing new ones every year. The gemstones allow them to use stronger magic than other featherlites.

Traits: gemstones on body

Elemental Featherlite

A primitive variant of featherlites, they supposedly only exist somewhere in the sea between Patchenric and Everstol. Not much is known.

Traits: Elemental flax.
