Physiology:

A buncake is the hybrid of a rabbit and a cake. The breed can vary from any flavour so long as it's edible, though sweet breeds are most common there have been rare sightings of savoury breeds.
Like rabbits, they have large ears, a small nose, small round tails, distinct front incisors, strong hind legs and lack paw pads. However with their cake genetics, their tails are made of frosting and they lack a reproductive system. As a result of this, buncakes have the ability to shift their dewlap (neckfluff) to suit the gender they identify with during growth.

Other traits that may vary include ear types, fur and tails - based on the piping tip/technique or rabbit breed.

Diet:

Buncakes are herbivorous, feeding mainly from fruits, seeds, nuts and grains. However due to their cake-traits, they have no need to eat and only do so for pleasure. A lot of buncakes fully embrace their cakeness by getting very passionate about baking and patisserie, striving to create the most innovative, delicious, flavour-balanced dishes for themselves or friends to enjoy.
There have been reported occassions of buncakes attempting to eat themselves out of curiousity, but this is typically frowned upon as it is reckless.

Reproduction:

Buncakes start life as just a dot of piped frosting and their body grows from it, becoming fully mature within just 30 days.
Having an asexual reproductive system, they will pipe a new frosting dot using a piece of their own matured tail, and are also known to combine their frosting with another buncake to create new breeds.
Their fully grown size is determined by the size of the frosting, and litter size is as many frosting dots the buncakes chooses to pipe. They can re-attach the unused frosting back to their tail.

Life Cycle of a Buncake

Origin:

Buncakes are the result of a food science experiment gone wrong.
According to the journal of one of the technicians, a team of food science students were attempting to make buttercream frosting more soft and fluffy by incorporating the follicle cells from rabbit fur. When they piped the frosting-sample onto a vanilla cupcake, a mutation occurred and the cake started growing into a [buncake] lagomorphic creature.

Turns out the frosting was also contaminated with human DNA as well - probably from licking the spoon - and consequentially made the buncakes intelligent and bipedal when fully grown.
