Overview
Minority Population | Highly Varied | Most Judged

No matter the form they take, ferals are considered animals, and animals are considered ferals. The term is interchangeable. Ferals are often shown no more respect than a stray animal on the street, and oftentimes it can be a struggle. If a feral can prove high intelligence, however, respect can be earned with most--but not all--people.

It is said that ferals came to be by beasts mating with animals, which produced magic, unnatural fur colors, or high intelligence in what should otherwise be normal creatures. While such matings are considered taboo, it's more common than one might think if the feral in question is intelligent and not simply a dumb animal, as ferals are perfectly capable of forming meaningful emotional and romantic bonds as any other person is.

Ferals may not be welcome in businesses, but it depends entirely on the owners. If they meet the right people, individual ferals may become respectable enough to hold common jobs, become teachers, or even become business owners themselves. Many, however, are simply kept as pets. There are many debates over the welfare of ferals and how they are treated in Arcadia, but thus far, no changes have happend.

Like beasts, clothing and accessories can be adjusted to their bodies. Unlike beasts, they never are expected to wear clothing, as they're often not considered to have enough personhood for that sort of modesty to matter; regardless of the truth in such statements. As for healthcare, they see veterinarian care, even if they're successful as beasts. This can often be undignified, but for the sake of the best healthcare, there is little to be done.

Meat and animal products for consumption are produced from ferals. Ethical farms will only use dumb animals as opposed to the intelligent ones, but there is little in the way of regulation to ensure this remains the case.
