Shishoodle Lore (WIP)

The Creation of the Shishoodle Species

Long ago in a humble village in Southern China, there was a boy who lived with his elderly father. He was the youngest in the village, and all of his friends had grown up and were too busy to play with him anymore. Sad and alone, the boy passed his time by helping his father fish and prepare food for the other villagers. One day, the boy begged the Gods for a companion to play with, a "friend who would never grow up, and could play with him forever." While most of the Gods simply laughed at his foolish request, one small God heard his plea. It was the Weasel God of Mischief and Silliness, Shisho. Shisho was also the youngest of the Gods, and understood the boy's need for companionship. So one night while the boy was preparing food with fish, rice, and seaweed, Shisho took the ingredients and created a friend for the boy, a weasel creature like himself who would never grow up, and would play forever... Outraged, the Gods banished Shisho from their presence. However, instead of being sad, Shisho simply made more of these silly creatures and named them after himself. Thus the Shishoodle species was born and Shisho was made their God...

Shishoodle Beliefs

While Shishoodles are silly and carefree, they all share the belief in their god, Shisho. They don't have a sophisticated religion for their belief, so they don't feel the need to build shrines or pray. Instead they pay homage to Shisho through their tricks and shenanigans. Some of them also believe that the more tricks they play, the better off they'll be in the afterlife.

Immigration and Shishoodles Today

Shishoodles have since spread their silliness to all corners of the human world, and a large number of them have even slipped through portals into other worlds. They prefer not to show themselves to humans, however, and instead leave traps and move valuables around in silly ways. In an attempt to explain these odd happenings, humans have dubbed them imps, and made their own depictions of them. Most Shishoodles find the misconception hilarious, and choose to spur on these outlandish beliefs. In other, more magical worlds Shishoodles are less careful about who they reveal themselves to, and have even slipped into the common population. A good example of one of these places is Cogitatio, where they've built settlements and made themselves right at home.
