Do they eat?
Food, no. Ghosties eat the fear and other negative emotions of their host. They absorb it until they are full.
Sometimes they eat the nightmares of the host, but usually, they don't do that. Them liking the taste of a nightmare is very rare.

Can they get sick?
Ghosties can get sick if they won't scare their host enough or if they recover from their negative emotions and fear.
They will become weaker since they have nothing to absorb.

Where do they sleep?
They sleep during the day somewhere near their host.

Disappearance

What happens if the human will overcome their fear/negative emotions?
The Ghostie will slowly fade until they disappear.

Do they have to be close to their human all the time?
They'd rather stick to their host so they won't miss good opportunities to scare them, but they can also go somewhere far away if they want to.
Though if they won't make their human tremble, they're going to disappear because the fear of their human keeps them healthy and 'alive'.

Can ghosties die?
They will disappear if their host recovers. It won't exactly hurt them, but they will get sick and they won't have the strength to move anymore because they have had nothing to absorb.
They will start to fade until they are no more, then, they will be reborn from a different person's symptoms.
Sometimes ghosties remember their past life, sometimes they don't.
Their appearance will change fitting to their new host, as they resemble their humans fear.
Regular injuries can occur if they aren't careful, any kind of injury will heal over time, as long they keep absorbing fear, or eat from nightmares.
No matter how severe the injury is, they can not die because of it, though they will feel the pain until it has healed.

Power

Can they grow in size?
Usually, they will keep the size they are born with for their whole life, which is 90cm/3 feet.
Sometimes they start feasting from their humans nightmares, this makes them grow slowly.
The taller they get, the more power they obtain.

Are all tall ghosties evil?
That depends on the ghosties intentions.
If they just like the taste of the nightmare and have goodwill, are they going to grow taller but they won't hurt their host apart from worsening their nightmares.

Is it possible for their host to see them?
Yes, but it's very rare. If their human is slowly giving up on life, their connection will get stronger. Their connection will get so strong, that they will become visible to their host.
After a while will they notice their voices more and more like actual voices, and then they will slowly start to see them.
If it's a good or bad thing depends on the ghostie itself and on their actions.

Is every ghostie evil?
No, but it's very, very rare to have a ghostie that is of good nature.
Ghosties are able to understand their human and can decide on their own if they want to ruin their life or not.
If a Ghostie feels sympathy for their host, then sometimes will they choose not to haunt them, even if that means their own disappearance.

Are all ghosties the same?
No, how they treat their host and act, depends on what their host had done in the past, on the ghosties and hosts personality and on the size of that little ghost.
The Ghosties strength depends on their physical size. If they are tall, they are able to do things like lifting tables with telekinesis and throwing them through the room, if they are tiny can they only do harmless things like knocking sounds or maybe lifting up tiny and light objects for a short amount of time.
If it's just a small kid that might be a bit annoying, then they're probably just going to do knocking and scratchy sounds.
But if that person has done a serious crime, and the ghostie has eaten from their nightmares and is not of good nature..

How exactly do ghosties scare their host?
They are able to pester their human just by being around them.
They can just stand there, but their presence is enough to make their host feel uncomfortable, which can lead to anxiety and other mental health problems.
It depends on the size of the ghostie as well, if they are small, making them uncomfortable is all they can do.
If they are huge they can induce episodes of severe depression.
Though that isn't usually something they like to do, it takes a lot of strength for them to do that.

Does something change during days like Halloween for example?
During days like Halloween, Friday the 13th, when a blood moon/full moon is occurring, etc, do their powers double and they often are very, very hard to handle due to their excitement and sudden burst of power!

Nightmares

Why won't they just eat the nightmares if they make them stronger? Who cares about the taste?
Nightmares can either taste delicious or absolutely rotten and disgusting, there is no in-between.
If they LOVE it they'll wait happily and excited until their host goes to sleep and hope for a nightmare.
Or they simply don't, ever, want to even think about it.
Normal dreams can't be absorbed.
Every nightmare from the same host has the same taste every time.

How are nightmares consumed?
If the ghostie likes the taste, will they put their hand on the human's forehead during the peak of the nightmare.
Absorbing their dream won't make the nightmare stop, in fact, it will only worsen.
It will get so bad until the human will wake up, soaked in sweat and tears.

How strong will they get after absorbing one nightmare?
A little, not a whole lot. But if absorbing the nightmares continues, slowly but sure will they gain a lot of power.

Are ghosties able to make a nightmare occur?
No, but the more the ghostie scares their host during daytime, the more likely it will be for a nightmare to occur.

Are there many ghosties out there?
Probably a lot of people are being haunted by a ghostie.

How long do ghosties exist?
For however long their host is suffering.

What decides on how they look like?
Ghosties resemble their host a little bit in looks, their personality, their gender, their age, the kind of fashion they wear/like, and they will have the ears of their favorite animal.
The biggest influence on their appearance is the human's fear, however.

Ghost ears and tail

Can the ghost tail and the ears ghosts talk?
Yes, they can, even if they don't have a mouth. They will always be able to talk.
In fact, the ghosts inside the ears and the tail are often the ghosties friend.

Do uncommon/rare/super rare/paranormal traits have an effect on the ghosts?
Only appearance-wise, unless it's a height trait.

What happens if you take the items out of the ear ghosts/tail? (if they carry an item inside them)
The items will regenerate over the day.

Relationships and Romance

Can other ghosties fall in love with each other?
Yes, they can.

Can they fall in love with their host? And what happens if their host loves them back?
Yes, they are able to fall in love with their host, though it is very rare.
Their host most likely won't love them back, they probably can't even tell that a ghostie is haunting them, and if they can, their mental health would be at rock bottom, and on top of that, the ghostie is the reason for their continuous poor health.
But for the sake of your story, you may make changes to that.

How does it affect the human, If their ghostie loves them?
It depends on the ghosties nature. If they like to scare their human, then they will continue to do so.
Or they may start to feel sympathy.
That does not mean, that they will have to stop 100%, they might just turn it down a notch..or they completely stop, it's all up to the individual ghostie.
If they really love their host and stop with the haunting, will they start to disappear.
Their love for their host will be bigger than their fear of disappearing, all for the well-being of their human.

Can a ghostie be in a relationship with another ghostie and can they have children?
They can be in a relationship, though they can't bear any children.
Ghosties are only born through mental issues by human beings.
At least that's how it is in the lore, you don't have to follow it though!
