The Hollow, home to The Spirit Listeners. It is surrounded on most sides by shallow walls, easily climbed, which is from where its name comes from. The cats live in a giant oak on the far west side of the hollow. They make their homes in the roots and low hanging branches, they climb higher for meetings and to talk with their ancestors. Some of the Spirituals make their dens among the higher branches but it is only a few. The clearing under the home tree is where most of the other cats make their homes. The higher in rank the closer to the tree, except for the elders and nursery. Those are tucked into the safest, easily defendable positions of the tree. A river runs parallel to the tree to the north, a small island making it easily crossed at the shallowest portion. Following the river east there resides Dawn Lake and the island in the middle. To get onto the island there is a bridge made of rocks. The island leads to Peaceful Falls, where once in a while the Spirituals and higher ranks will travel to more easily connect with the ancestors and learn of the happenings in the world and what they must do. Cats who are entering adulthood who also travel here to receive their ancestors blessings. From the lake the river splits into two traveling parallel to each other. The reconnect around the entrance to the hollow and to get onto the island this forms there is a rock resting in the thinnest section. By the entrance to the hollow is Outlook Rock. This marks the entrance and there is always someone stationed here to keep watch, with a runner or two who can report back to Home Tree if someone is approaching or if there is danger. Most cats stay around the Home Tree all their lives unless their job requires them to go to other parts of the territory. Those that hunt stick mostly to the wooded area between the two rivers, but during the winter they may cross the rivers or even leave the hollow in groups for safety in order to feed everyone. Across the river to the north and to the west of the falls, lies a cave. Inside this cave, upon its walls, lies stories from the past. Stories of an ancient evil, legendary heroes, and what some say are The Listeners' ancestors. The archivists keep it in shape and clean and organized, while the storytellers learn the stories within and share them at celebrations and gatherings. The Hollow is their home. They have lived there for as long as they can remember and they don’t plan on living it anytime soon.
