In the Kingdom of Xin, there are six main clans and seven sub clans with most of them branching out from the original six clans. The sub clans include the Gou Clan (天狗), Hu Clan (狐狸), Jian Clan (鹣), Qi Clan (麒麟), Wū Clan (金乌), Xiu Clan (貔貅), and the Yue Clan (月兔). Each clan has a different specialization, but all clans use ‘runes’ as a basic ability.

Several years after the new Emperor had ascended to the throne, he sought to repair relations between the seven clans of Xin. To instigate this, an exchange program was developed and implemented. Students of each clan were to convene at a single designation and travel together, visiting each clan as they studied side by side.
