What is a faebunny?

Rumor has it that there is such a place called the Enchanted Hollow. They say it's a secret domain created by a benevolent witch who can make all your wishes come true, but you can only access it by traveling to the Forbidden Forest and performing a magic ritual. You'll need a couple of supplies, an open heart, and only the best of intentions– she can see into your heart and will know if you are looking to take advantage of her.

Each day many curious, skeptical, and even desperate individuals embark on their own enchanted exodus to the Forbidden Forest to shoot their shot for the witch's blessing. None return the same way they left; in fact, few seem to return at all...

...and legend says those left in the woods turn into faebunnies.

Each story entails a traveler arriving at the Forbidden Woods. To begin the witch's trial, the traveler must take off their shoes, cover their soles in pollen, and open a jar of 16 of butterflies; moths; or dragonflies. (It sounds weirder than you'd expect, but don't question magic.) When the first creature spreads its wings to escape the glass, the countdown for the ritual begins. The traveler must recite this spell before the final bug takes flight:

O Hollow Witch, I vy for a wish.
Just one wish, will you give me this?
I washed my soles in nature's soul.
I freed witch's kin, twice eightfold.
Lead me to the hollow, guide my feet.
Warden of the woods, hear my plea!

This is the point of no return. Not much detail surrounds the trials that come after this mysterious spell, but hearsay among scholars of the legend say the witch puts travelers through trials before they can achieve their wish...

Is there really any wish in the woods at all? Not even the faebunnies know.

Curious fairies seem to populate the hollow after seeking the witch's aid. The witch's domain is brimming with magic, and studiers of the Enchanted Hollow believe wandering in it for too long without escape imbues travelers with powerful magic. A mortal form cannot withstand such extreme power, so her specially curated magic morphs creatures into a more suitable form: faebunnies.

Eternal youth from her magic fills these fairies with limitless vigor, and some spend every drop of energy on toying with the whims of adventurers who seek the secrets of the hollow. Why? Well, it's speculated faebunnies harbor jealousy for the mortality that fell at the feet of their desparation. To avenge their past, they might mischevously satisfy themselves by tricking humans. Others suppose faebuns perhaps whisper hints for the trials they failed in pursuit of their own wishes to free newcomers from their permanent fate.
